We decided very well in advance for Reina Roja for our one week stay in Playa del Carmen, and we are so glad we did. It's a very original theme and concept. We had a Junior suite and it was huge, a lot of space; a big bathroom and shower, a a nice balcony with a maniqui looking over the street. The breakfast every morning was delicious and the staff in the restaurant was very helpful. The roof top pool was a nice spot to spend some quiet hours in the afternoon after coming coming back from the .
all reviews » I liked Cintia and Luis. They were very very hostile and sweet. I hope next time we go we'll see them again. The location is also perfect. The staff in the restaurant also very sweet. The rooms are very clean, comfortable and though there is light all around the hotel in the room you can do total darkness. Overall loved the place. Recommend it for younger couples/people. The hotel is really close to the 5th avenue and to the beach. The breakfast is really good and the staff from the restaurant is very friendlly. The rooms are very spacious and very comfortable. The air conditioning in our room wasn't really cooling, it took it 3 days to get from 34 degrees to 24. We were missinformed about the prices for the hotek transfered to the airport which led us to pay for a ergular more uncomfortable taxi. I didn't like the fact that the bar staff added their own tips, which was 20% I think. I'm a generous tipper, but would like to decide myself how good I thought the service was. The water temperature in the shower wasn't stable, changing from hot to cold all the time. The lack of English TV channels (the one that we could get had poor sound and it kept dropping out). Noisy Club atmosphere which is interesting for the first time but starts to bother you once you stay more than one day People who live there (clubbers, strange drunk girls dressed like wow etc) The staff was 50/50 friendly, the girl on the reception was slow and arrogant. Too noisy! Hotel is perfect for young people to party in playa del Carmen. Rooms in red are with nice design but not proper to rest. Internet is very bad. When we search for a hotel probably if you add some fields as trip purpose and others will help to find the correct hotel at price range requested. The configuration of the hotel makes that all levels are connected, so the music of the disco/bar till late at night (2 am) will be heard in every room and can keep you awake. The wifi was not working in the rooms, so needed to go sit at the reception to be able to connect. The roof in the hallway was leaking at several places, and due to the heavy rain, the hallway was wet and slippery.
