Sliema and the coastline up to neighbouring St Julian's constitutes Malta's main coastal resort. It is a centre for shopping, restaurants and cafès. Sliema is also a major commercial and residential area and houses several of Malta's most recent hotels. Tower Road is its 5 km promenade, full of shops, restaurants, pubs, banks, supermarkets, internet cafes and day cruise boats.

The road continues north to St. Julians and Paceville and southward towards the Strand Gzira, Ta Xbiex , Msida and Valletta. Sliema was once a fishing town on the peninsula across Grand Harbour from Valletta. Their elegant villas and town houses line the quiet, inland streets.

The Sliema promontory offers, on one side, stunning views across to Valletta and, on the other, open sea views. The promenade, which runs for several kilometres from Gzira, just south of Sliema, to St Julian's, is ideal for walker and joggers. There are plenty of seats along the promenade and on summer evenings the seafront becomes a sociable meeting place for locals.

All accommodations feature an en suite bathroom and all common facilities. Apartments have a combined living/kitchenette area offering full cooking facilities, including a fridge, and a terrace or balcony.

By Car:
From Gudja:
- Head towards Valletta through Marsa.
- Bypass Valletta and turn down to Sa Maison, driving along the harbour road to Msida.
- From Msida, take the road leading to Sliema, through Gzira, keeping Sliema Creek to the right.
- On arriving to the Strand Sliema, bypass the shopping area and keep driving along the promenade through Tigne Street till you get to Censu Xerri Street, which is the last turning to the left.
- Whislt driving up this road you will find Mattew Pulis Street - the first turning on your left. Since this is a one way road you will have to take the next turning on the left, driving till the end of the street turning left again.
- Il-Merill Aparthotel is half-way through Mattew Pulis Street.

By Air:
Malta International Airport (15 km):
Situated at Gudja, there is a transfer service to and from the hotel by bus and taxi (additional cost).

By Bus:
- Take the number 8 to Valletta.
- From Vallettato Sliema, take the number 62, 67 or 68.
