  We loved the coziness of the place, plus the fact that our dogs were able to come with us.   We loved this hotel, probably our favourite of the 11 we stayed in in our two week trip in the Baltic. Right in the centre of a lovely little town that the rest of the world hasn't yet discovered.   This hotel is a hidden gem. The staff were the best we've struck in the Baltics and the hotel itself was as good, if not better, than most we've stayed at for twice the price. The young man at reception was so pleasant and helpful. If you could bottle him and sell him you'd make a fortune.   If you plan to travel around the Latvian countryside then this is a great option. The massive house can comfortably accommodate a large family. It is clean and well appointed. Had no trouble conversing in English.

  The owner was very friendly and most helpful in every respect even telephoning a reservation for us in an excellent restaurant in the town. Our young daughter was accommodated in a seperate bed and without charge. And, the garden was wonderful to sit out in over breakfast which was really tasty. Overall, the positives far outweighed the negatives ... what people say » and would have no hesitation in recommending to other potential guests. - We stayed for four nights at Pulkvedis in a clean double-bed room and our stay was memorable due to the kindness and hospitality of Juris and Anita. There is also a large garden and Sauna. There is a fine walk along the Venta riverbank only five minutes' walk from the guesthouse.
