My first impression was that Mandala Boutique Hotel is very clean. The staff was very helpful and accommodative. Ms Monty the receptionist was very warm and friendly. The guy who take care of the restaurant was very nice too. The rooms was very clean, well maintained with a nice orange frangrance. Keep it up!!. The welcome. The location. Our room on the first floor. The breakfast, simple but good with very fresh local products. The fact that my daughter was offered a better room (she declined because it had two twin beds instead of a big one).
all reviews » The hotel has a helpful and very kind staff. The hotel is located in a quiet side street and it is only a 10 min stroll along the river to the center of Vientiane. The beautiful garden is perfect to relax after sightseeing. Just far enough out of town, yet close enough to be able to walk in (unless you're hotty is a princess). One of the best omellettes I've ever had. Not pretentious but comfortable. And everything (except the bikes) worked. The wonderful renovated villa in a beautiful garden was a peaceful oasis in the midst of the city. We had one of the suites which was marvelous and huge. Breakfast was tasty - especially the passion fruit jam and yogurt. We booked the suite which was beautifully furnished and very spacious. Really pleasant place. Very 'artsy' sort of place, with a small open library and nice places around the common areas to sit and read or relax. The beds are amazingly comfortable and the area is quite. the decoration is really nice and the open library could be useful as Vientiane is not as animated at night... The location as well as the setting is splendid. You really feel relaxed and at home in this place. Despite some odds, I would recommend the place. The hotel was quite conveniently situated and met our needs for an overnight stay. The staff were polite and accommodating. We like the design of the building, and the restaurant in the open garden, quite place, clean, good amenities. If you are doing martial arts and need a grass field to practise, you will have it there. Nice hotel with good potential. Needs training on the staff to be a good hotel. Setting in garden, a bit outside city center, is nice. My daughter bedroom, on the ground floor, damp and sad. The fact that her bathroom had no door, just a curtain. The fact that our bathroom/toilet door could not be closed and stayed wide open!. Bikes had flat tyres (no working pump) and pedal came off in 50 metres. (more amusing than didn't like). Staff (reception and restaurant) speaks only very little English, which can be bothersome in some situations. There could be more bikes to rent (and for free as in other hotels in Laos). Bathroom was very small compared to the size of our suite. Staff not particularly competent/friendly, but I think they tried to be as helpful as possible. Very minor point. Very good hotel for the price overall. Should provide free bike to ease access to Vientiane city center. Bathroom a bit small for 2. Half the place was under renovation, and not one word of apology nor any discount was granted. The management seems to not really care about their guests. So hospitality seems to be a distant feeling here. Bad isolation for outside,specialy on back of toilet ,during all night wash machins and doors closing. Room was a bit dark, not well lit by natural light. Restaurant management. The staffl is not very professionnal. no pool. A bit like dorm. The actual room with its enclosed verandah converted into a bathroom was a bit bizarre. The entry door had cracks which were covered by long strips of packing tape. Generally speaking the whole room although quite clean had been renovated as cheaply as possible. Most of the staff English less. The 2nd and the 3rd morning breakfast we didn't get good service such as no bread, egg came late etc. The guy at the reception was new, slow and unexperienced. The hotel was overbooked and rooms did not match the booking. Reception staff did not inform properly nor were able to respond to complain. Room was very disappointing, not clean, insufficient air conditioning. Staff cant understand english well. Breakfast is not acceptable.
