Will definitely stay here again. Ranked #1 for the last 7 years by S &P. well deserved. Breakfast appealed to western and Japanese palates. -
We liked eveything. The location was excellent yet it was quiet. The room was quiet with good blockout curtains, and was fresh and new. WiFi worked well and was free. The breakfast was fine and the staff gave good advice when asked. The self- washing laundry was a bonus and worked well. Security was probably unnecessary but felt good and was not intrusive. We can't wait to stay here again and recommend it to others.

What a beautiful surprise when we arrived at the hostel. It was situated in the heart of Tokyo, walking distance to most of the town's attractions. Considering we were on a 3 week trip to Japan and that we visited many
hotels and hostels during its span, I have to say that Tokyo Ueno Youth
Hostel had the friendliest and most helpful staff we have come across.
The general attitude of the employees towards the guests surpassed all
of our expectations. Furthermore, it had great facilities such as
efficient wireless internet which had proven to be hard to come by all
over Japan. Overall, I would not give a better review to any other

The reviews said the room was small. I beg to differ. It was bigger than I expected. The room is divided into 3 parts. Living room, bedroom and toilet. The bedroom is small but big enough to spread out the mattress (enough to fit a king size). Then the living room is big enough to sit and even open up the luggage. Toilet is divided into wet and dry area. The toilet area is spacious. Bathing area is not too bad. A mini bathtub and a standing area.
