This ryokan is very clean, comfortable, with superb facilities. Worth the money I spent for 3 nights there. Feels like staying at someone's house. They have kitchen with a stove, a fridge, a washer (200yen) and a dryer (100yen). 2 toilets, 1 bathroom, and a large sharing sink with a large mirror. There a pc with fast internet connection. all reviews » A traditional Japanese ryokan not far from JR Kyoto station. 20-minutes walk to it. The room is big, floor covered with tatami, the style is not modern but truly Japanese! A thermos with cups and tea in every room. The hostel is small, so it's not overcrowded. Wi-Fi is available for 100 yen. A small kitchen with microwave oven and fridge. Fast access to the bus staton to take a trip around the city. Excellent location, 10 minute walk from Kyoto station and Gion district. Basic but spacious clean tatimi mat room. Shared facilities more then enough for small number of rooms. Small kitchen area with microwave, fridge, hob, table and coin operated washing machine and tumble drier. Bicycle hire at very good price just around the corner - the owner will direct you. Riverside Takase was a lovely Ryokan that was extremely budget friendly. We found the staff pleasant and unobtrusive, and it had the feel of classic Kyoto without the tourist trappings. Nicely situated between the railway station and the hills fir easy walking access. The map given by letsbookhotel.com is very confusing, hard to find the location. It actually convenient by using bus no. 4, 17 & 205. A bit far from MRT station. Traditional style. I had the entire place to myself, so it was comfortable that way. Full up, I would imagine that the place could easily become too small. Its an old Townhouse Ryokan, and built for the Japanese, who are not as tall as most westerners. A well supplied kitchen, though with only one gas burner to cook on, washing machine, fridge. The location, on the canal that runs parallel to the river Kamo was great. Not far to subway stations, Shijo - I walked to Kyoto Station in 15 minutes, but I like to walk. It was within a walking distance from a Central train station. Near subway station. I have nothing negative about this hotel. Walls are too thin, cats were wandering at the roof the whole night. The walls of the rooms are a bit thin and noise travels easily. We really enjoyed staying at Riverside Takase. The only problem was when we caught a taxi it was hard to explain where it was, so we got out at Gojo dori and walked. Perhaps a map or card with instructions in Japanese for guests to show to taxi drivers?. Very low price but it did get tiring putting slippers on and off, to and from the bath. Pay tv, pay internet. Mosquitos. Nearby no food stall or restaurant. The Ryokan was old, and past the charming stage - it needed some TLC, paint and there was mold in places which I could smell as well as see. Not good for your health. Not the friendliest manager I've met, but I didn't need to speak to her very much. The owner is rather a cash collector than a friendly staff, that will help you when needed. There was quite cold and the heater did not work. You need to pay extra if you want to watch TV or use Wi-Fi (it is only 100 Yen, but still it is not a standard to which we got used to). I think you can find better places within this price range. Feeling that the host never pay attention to the guests.
