What people say
Sakura was the first hostel I have stayed in and it was all I could have wanted it to be. The staff were friendly and informative of what to do in Kyoto. The common area was great for meeting others, cook your own meals and planning your days activities as the walls were plastered with information about Kyoto. You could rent a bike for the day, though we found it easy to walk everywhere/to the bus.
Though it is traditional bedding, it is really quite comfortable - we had a great sleep each nigh. all reviews »
This Japanese style hostel was the nicest place I ever stayed in. I felt like "home" there. Room is unexpectedly big for this price and smelled of woods and straw. Kitchen is clean and convenient. Staff was very helpful. Highly recommended for budget stay.
we had a room for two. Excellent location to see Kyoto! Clean too, and shared bathrooms was not an issue.
I had a great time with staff & other customers in the common room.
This accommodation is so cheap.
Very helpful and friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. Good facilities and great location.
service! very good customer service! we love our stay in Peace house sakura!.
very cozy and comfortable... The best is kind staff of guesthouse.
staff nice and helpful. bikes to rent. calm area.
There is a wifi and room is clean.
Futons were quite comfortable!.
10 mins uphill climb to Kiyomizu dera is totally a bonus! and the Gojo subway station is linked to the Gion area, or I can just walk from the Kiyomizudera all the way down to Gion while enjoying the lantern show. With the view and the crowd, It certainly didn't feel like I've been walking for almost 4km! It was a good place to shop for merchandise too!.
Considering the price it's a nice place for short stay.
Good value of money.
It is really cheap.
The staff was nice. Good location. With a map it was very easy to find. Easy to get places from there. Toilet and bathroom clean.
The price is cheep.
Near Kiyomizu temple is perfect.
The location was great.
cheap.
It was a tad bit noisy, though this is to be expected when you share bathrooms. Our room just happened to be next door, so there was a steady stream of people using the shower before bed.
The room was a bit musty too, which I got used to after a while. I think it was just the traditional mats that they use mixed with the heat that we were experiencing.
These things are nothing you can't handle, so if you want a reasonably priced room and a great atmosphere, pick Sakura.
There was no yukatas and towels. Towels are available for 100 yen though.
It might be very cold in winter - we stayed in November and nights were quite cold.
Check in is after 18.00, but we were able to check in earlier as our room was ready.
But everything other was so nice that we was not disappointed with the "disadvantages".
Not so clean.
Cannot use wifi in the basement room.
Could be noisey at times.
I think there is nothing to change.
No.
Waiting time at check-in, due to the reduced hours to do so.
It was very hard to find as it is located within the row of houses! and the nearest subway station is like a 500m a-little-up-hill climbing which for a traveler like me whose been standing all the way from Tokyo to Kyoto in the shinkansen (shich was close to midnight) would rather opted just to sleep on the pavement, and only continued looking for the hostel the next morning.
And the shower is just one on each floor, so if there's a lot of people to use it, it will be quite a long ques.
Location is really not easy to find.
Location is a bit difficult to find.
The bedsheets were still wet, a lot of hair... The futons were really hard and it wasn't fresh at all. And the internet connectionwas really bad on the second floor which we stayed at. Was very frustrating.
It's hard to find the location at night. The map is not clear enough to check.
Also the photo of website is clear, but the true location is not plain to seek.
The warm air is ineffective.
The room was small and not so clean, the bed were not even done by the staff, there was no light in the bathroom
Overall too expensive for what we get.
room is smelly,.
