Everything on the practical side. The 'room' was a small flat, spacious with a large wardrobe. Clean towels, sheets and covers in the closets, a small kitchen, which didn't have any pots and pans, or other kitchen ware, but I borrowed some from the young girl who looks after the rooms. A desk, chair, a small table with two chairs, the layout of the flat was fantastic, better than its sister guesthouse, the Shimabara. Bathroom, sink and toilet separated into each their space, but it worked well.
all reviews » I just LOVE the bathroom! There's a modern hi-tech bathtub with which you can press a few buttons and have the water ready at the right temperature and at the right level. It can even keep the water warm! The ventilation system and toliet are also amazing. The hotel is located in a quiet residential area and you can take bus to go to sightseeing places. There are a few temples round the corner and creates a very good atmosphere. There's also a public bath within a 5-minute walk distance. We gav. Every thing! a very nice hotel, specious, 22 m, with all the facilities you mean need in a room. A tv/pc a very good AC, Shower is so nice and clean. and the location is very good for those who like to have a quite night far from the noise of the city. The neighborhood is ''so Japanese'', it adds a sense of traditioanl life. Many convenint store near by , a laundry service and bus stop is not far at all. the staff are very helpful. Need to catch a bus to the east-side shrines etc, but this is very easy and bus stop is only a ~5 min walk away and costs 200 yen. Good base for exploring Kyoto. If you want your own space with a small kitchen area to cook some basic food, this is a good option. Set up almost like studio apartments, these are self contained units, in a good location to explore Kyoto. We stayed here for 5 nights and loved it. The staff leave very specific instructions to check in, and everything they promised they delivered on. It is very clean and spacious. You can get a city bus pass at any convenience store and board any buses to any destination you want , including Kyoto Stations. Yes, i will stay again. Dont need to walk from Kyoto Station. Take a 206 bus and stop at Umiya Dori Street. Then walk through some small alleyway to the Hotel. This was one of the best accommodations we had in Japan. The staff was incredible and the room was wonderfully clean and modern. The computer and strong wifi were a large bonus. The area was great for walking/riding public transit. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone going to Kyoto and hope to stay here again. Top price-quality relationship: a small appartment by yourself, with convenient bathroom anf fast wifi in the room (TV set also used as extra PC). Reception is not staffed all the time but explanations sent by mail were clear. Would come back for a longer stay, as a place from where to go around. I liked the advance check-in with PayPal more than I expected. Everything was "do-it-yourself" but that is reflected in the great price. I couldn't believe there was a desktop computer in the room. If you're looking for some crazy Kyoto's night life this hostel is in very quiet area, so you will not find anything interesting very close. its quite a bit far from the train station,have to use bus, and the bus stop is a bit far from the hostel. You need to get a bus to go to pretty much any attraction (but acceptable). Don't try to get a sense of scale from the maps they provide, rather think of them as "conceptual" ones (that seems to be typical in Japan). A bit away (20-25 mins) from the main attractions for those who are not willing to walk. The map to the location or hotel is not very clear, and we found out that only few local people know exactly where is the hotel. We almost lost our hope to find the hotel. But definitely the best bed we've slept on so far (inc. A 4.5 star hotel). Location. If you're staying in the spring or autumn this may not be an issue at all. We stayed in the Summer however (2nd week of August) and walking everywhere in 40º (celsius) heat and 95+% humidity was not great. Use plenty of Taxis! :). Nothing really. Location is slightly out but for the price its nothing to complain about. The kitchen should have some dishes, cutlery etc. you only can see just the fence from a window of the room. Not clean service. we liked everything. Nothing. None. Mattress was a little lumpy. Stale smoke smell in entrance corridor from smokers ashtray at entrance area. No cooking pots or utensils made stove useless except for kettle. This place is little far from sabway station. I would like more kitchen supplies, like a small pan or anything that can one use to prepare a small meal. Otherwise the kitchen has no use. beddings could be cleaner. Nothing. no stoves, no laundry service, but nearby there are a lot of seven eleven and a laundry service. Not the most central location so a bit far from the sights. A little bit far from kyoto station.
