Our room was spotlessly clean, light and airy with a great balcony space and offered a fantastic comfortable space to relax following our busy sight-seeing days. all reviews » This hotel is perfect if you want to be a short distance from the busy city center of Verona. The hotel is updated, artistically pleasing, clean, and meticulously kept. The manager who was on duty while we were there was very attentative and helpful . He answered every question we had about Verona. The breakfast was nice for European standards, with yoghurt, cereal, fruit, breads, toast, boiled eggs, meat and cheese. It was a special treat to have whatever type of specialty coffee we wante. The hotel is just perfect for those travellers who prefer not to stay in the center of Verona but spend about 10 minutes to get there by car. We were travelling by a group of 8 people, ordered 4 standard rooms. All of them were different in terms of design and size, availability of balcony, but all were nice and clean and everything inside looked brand new. Very kind staff, various breakfast, free parking, availability of elevator and special place for ski-bags - all these petty details make th. We liked this modern hotel and its suburban location a lot. Easy to find by car; free and abundant parking on site. Large comfortable room with a balcony; nice bathroom. One would need a car to stay here and visit Verona, but we had one and were glad to avoid the hassle of trying to find parking at hotels in the old part of town. Ultra friendly and accomodating staff, lovely peaceful outside sitting area across a small main road from a grape field- lovely for a leisurely brekky and afternoon glass of wine. 30+ wines of excellent quality, well priced. And- very rare for the continent- the bed was an actual king sized bed, not two singles pushed together. Very romantic. The hotel, its grounds and rooms were all beautiful and superbly maintained. Evenings were quiet, and mornings were lovely. Nothing. There was nothing I didn't like. The only drawback, if you can't really call it one, is that the hotel whilst only a 13 euro taxi ride from the centre of Verona, dose essentially require you to taxi back and forth as the bus runs only every half hour (no predictable timetable) and stops running at 8pm. But as the hotel is so lovely and affordable itself, so much nicer than many places twice the price in Verona it truly seemed to us, this is a small price to pay. Nothing negative at all to say about La Grotta. It was simply superb. Nothing to add. Just a little out of the city. Buses to centre go not very often (1 or 2 in hour). Taxi to Arena costs about 15 euro. It was hard to find. We ended up asking directions from a driver at a gas station. Amazingly, he checked his gps, and told us to follow him. After a several km ride we arrived at the hotel. Everything was good. We drove in off the Autostrade around 10pm and saw a number of ladies out at work on this street, which didn't make us feel very safe. the room is too small for a double bed-couple. Nothing. It is not in the center. Nothing. The area it was in, didnt offer many OPEN restaurants around 9pm. I also didnt see much to do around there. But we only had a quick one night stay so cant judge it accordingly. Nothing bad to note. nothing...!. Nothing to complain about. It was a bit further out of the city center then I would have liked but as we had a car this was not a problem. I understand there is a bus nearby that will take you to the city center. Construction next door , distance from center city. Nothing, everything was absolutely perfect. Nothing really. The old city is at 5 km of the hotel but it is easy to park the car close the old city. It cost 1 eu per hour. Stuffy room a bit too hot but too loud with the window open. smell in stairway and no elevator. False fire alarm at 2am. Bastards who smoke in rooms should eventually get what they deserve. All was fine!. staff should knock before entering rooms. Location is on the prostitutes main road. Bus services non existent after 8.30 pm - not hotel's fault obviously but just a point to be aware of and whilst they will happily offer you a sandwich or salad, the restaurant doesn't cater to guests except for breakfast. Long walk to bus or restaurants. Be sure about bus routes because they don't return the same way you leave and you need to get off at a different stop on a different street. There was no light in the bathroom. We did check in around 20-30, found disorganization with baby (12 months) bed which was requested online earlier. Very poor breakfast.
