The hotel staff was very polite and extremely helpful. The hotel room is spacious and grand, quite medieval venetian style. The hotel gardens and the surroundings are fascinating for an early morning stroll. Do eat in the hotel even though it's expensive as their executive chef menu is something to behold. I will always remember the valentine's day special menu; it was super!. We were upgraded to a junior suite which was absolutely wonderful. The staff was extremely helpful...5 star service. The location is also perfect. The shuttle worked like a charm. The breakfast, which was included in the rate, was excellent.

Prices in Venice in general are very expensive... the hotel was expensive. Just the food prices. No tea or coffee in the room. Not easy to find boat transfer late at night. Two out of three restaurant was closed so we had no choice to select in the isolated island.Lack of internet access in the rooms. The Maschere Restaurant is notquite sure what it should be..either a specialty restaurant or a morecasual restaurant. F+b ptobably should be reworked towards an al frecobistro all day dining with a slightly lower price point. The pricestructure did not relate to the service and food quality. May be the restaurant. For the food did not match what stated on the menu.Rooms were good but could have been better equipment ie: british tvchannels, coffee making facilties, better provision of music apaprt fromthe tv - i-Pod dock. Water pressure was not very good for the shower wehad to ask them to look at this. bar was too expensive and had no good atmosphere. We had issues with: 1. blocked bathroom sink drain., 2. shower was not working, 3. no sound on CNN network, no newspaper delivered which I would expect in a 5* hotel.Being away from the center of Venice, you do need to plan your day accordingly and it is a bit more restrictive in the evenings. However, this is a beautiful hotel. The restaurants are good but quite expensive. Breakfast was hectic, in general food was very average and not to the standard you would expect from such a hotel. In general too expensive especially as it fails to meet expectations on a number of fronts - does not have the wow factor.shuttle every 40 minutes instead of 20 as announced in your offer.
