a fantastic location, friendly helpful staff, beautiful room - we were upgraded to junior suite on arrival- a lovely gesture that really started our break on a happy note. The closeness of the no. 1 vaporetto meant that we could be anywhere in Venice very easily, but could also escape the crowds and have a really authentic dining experience at reasonable cost, as there where many trattoria within easy walking distance of the hotel. all reviews » we loved the peace and quiet amongst the hustle bustle of Venice. the staff were charming the room was very comfortable well appointed and with a great view of the grand canal. it was very near to the waterbus and some charming small restaurants. we stayed there 2 years ago when they first opened and we would stay again. Location is perfect, few meters to San Stae station, less than 10 mins walk to Rialto market and bridge. Water got all over the bathroom! It was also pretty pricey. Nothing to dislike. the bath and shower in one. Wifi is not free. the lack of signage indicating where the hotel was located. Very badly sign posted. Not obvious but very easy once located. At the San Stae vaperetto stop. No thing. The Hotel location is okay but there was no near restaurants, shops or ATM's if you needed. the room view was not that good, as it's partially view on the grand canal and not as promised. When you turn-off the lights you'll start hearing noise "Ticking" inside the walls. Nothing. price. The shower was never very hot. when we booked in we were accidentaly put into a lower class room, it was quickly resolved and there where no hard feelings. We tried to exchange pounds for euros in the hotel. The first exchange proposed by staff was 20 pounds for 14 euros?!!! I call this stealing when a pound is worth 1.16 euros at this moment. Finally we could exchange 30 pounds for 30 euros... .. Please don't ever try to exchange money in the hotel... Otherwise u will be stolen... Shower didn't work, advised would be repaired next day but wasn'T. Bedside lamp didn't work. Rooms small, jacuzzi tub didn't work, damaged/torn towels, water damage on door frames, echo-ey room in which you could hear voices of people in room next door. In short, facilities were not what one would expect when paying 330 euro/night. Poor breakfast, wireless didn't work in room , poor communication from staff Grand Canal was closed to traffic on our checkout day and we weren't told and left hanging with no transport . Had to walk to bus station in the rain . Expensive and not good value for money. The total disinterest shown by staff to complaints - and no action taken, so little or no sleep because curtains did not shut. Used shower cap left lying in room for 4 days Toileteries not automatically replaced. Definitely not up to 4* quality. Would never recommend this hotel to anyone going to Venice expecting quality accommodation.
