Our stay at the Hotel Dell'Opera made our time in Venice perfect, we were there during a very hot/humid spell and we were able to stop back into the hotel throughout the day because of the central location and cool off, take a bath in their beautiful bathroom, or a siesta in their crisp sheets, it was total luxury for a fraction of the cost. The staff was wonderful, and the breakfast was five star.

They answered our quesions and were always ready to print our a map and direct us to where we waned to go. The room was great. The highlight of our stay was the helpfulness of Jason and all the staff.This is one of the best little hotels in the world. It has a perfect location, the rooms were wonderful and teh staff could not have more helpful. We will be going again. Superb position - most friendly and helpful staff - serenading gondolas passing along the canal in front of our window was a romantic bonus - very clean and comfortable. Hotel was recently renovated. The location is very central and the staff were wery helpul - They gave us maps and lots of great advice. We couldn't ask for more. Location close to S.Marco piazza, nice view to small channel, and most important - perfect attitude from personnel (friendly and professional at the same time).Friendly staff, excellent situation, clean rooms. The bathrooms were wellappointed and clean and the flat screen on the wall permitted aneffective use of space. Our familiy did stay at the hotel on December 10-12, during high water (Alta Acqua), reaching 1.4m above the sea level. There is a very short path to the entrence of the hotel - those couple of meters could be covered by plank-way rised above water level. However, it is only minor recommendation, we knew what means Alta Acqua and it was great adventure, only positive memories. difficult to find when first arriving w/t local help because of special Venice system: no ways but districts names with house numbers.The stairs from the water-front to the hotel were torturous with ourluggage. On the way back to the station we took a water taxi from thehotel. The hotel has a canal in front of it so you can take the taxiliterally from the door-step. Hard to find after a bottle of wine, but isn't everything?. We didn't have any toliet paper. The brekfest can be improved but it was ok.elevator just up to the second floor. Lack of a lounge space is a serious onconvenience for guests.the breakfast wasnt the best but they did serve plenty to fill you up. A bit hard to find at first - make sure you know where to go and you'll be ok. Please add a sign to the front door. incapacity for prblem-solving. The wall-fixed hair dryer was not functioning. The management was unable to bring a temporary one while wating for the reparation of the main one.The wi-fi was inaccesible in some rooms because ...? No excuse is possible in today's Europe for lack of connections.There was no Iron to use ? I asked for one, was willing to pay, but told it was not hotel "Law" to allow it ? My clothes were shoved into a bag and no way of Ironing them. There is no bar in the hotel, in Ireland it would be regarded as a BandB more so than a hotel. The room was not cleaned properly. Rubbish left by previous customer in the fridge and paper waste on the table. Bathroom was messy. We had to ask the staff come and clean it!! Cannot connect wireless in the room, but the hotel provides cable. Breakfast not many choices.My room was very noisy. Partially due to external noise, but mostly due to poor interior design. Rattling windows and ultra thin glass helped for a terrible nights sleep. Also, consierge advised of two restaurants which were horrific, don't trust the locals I say. Access.

By Plane:
From Venice Marco Polo Airport (13 km) you can take public water transport or ground transport.
- Take a water taxi from the airport’s dock. This is a 40 minute journey bringing you next to the hotel, on Fondamenta delle Veste.
- Alternatively, for ground transport, take the Alilaguna public buses (either the Blue or Red lines). Both will take you to San Marco Giardinetti in approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes. From here, go towards the vaporetto Vallaresso stop, which is found on the left bank. Cross Calle Vallaresso, turn left on Salizada San Moisè and cross the bridge. Here you will arrive on Calle Larga XXII Marzo. Make the 2nd right onto Calle delle Veste and continue until you reach the brigde. From here you will see the entrance to Hotel Dell’Opera.
