The hotel is close to everything but off the main road a bit so fairly quiet. I'm very happy with the choice we made. There were 7 of us travelling together and our needs were facilitated very well. Hotel Abbazia is a charming newly restored hotel in a historic building centrally located next to the railways station. I've stayed in many hotels in Venice over the years and this is definitely good value for money - except for the fact that asthmatics - myself included - really are unable to stay here on account of the hotel's liberal (ab)use of "aromatherapy" room perfumes throughout the hotel. staff were helpful and efficent, the location was excellant to train station etc.Room is big, very close to train station. The reception staff were fantastic.Location, near to Train station. no lift. No shower curtain or door hook. The only major complaint that the walls were very thin in the hotel, soit was pretty noisy in the room. And there's a church with a bell thatrings sporadically all through the night, so I wouldn't recommend for alight sleeper.Only complaint: Air conditioning was not working in my room and it took 4 tries to convince someone at the desk that it wasn't just that the windows were not closed. Eventually a fan was given to me and that helped - but a lot of stress in the meantime. No. The 7.15 wake up call by the church bells next door. No need for an alarm clock! Then again, it enbled us to make the most of Venice, so definately not a problem!. There wasn't much nightlife(bars etc) around but that seems to the same all over the city. Our bathroom needed some upgrade, at least a shower curtain. The church bells next door ringing every morning!!. breakfast (kind of foods and bevearage) should be improved. I thought it would have been better if the breakfast could have been taken outside into the garden. It did not open til 9am. No good for early birds!!. No elevator. The beds are extremely hard and there was a bell that chimed right outside of my window at 07:15 and then again at 08:15. It was incredibly loud and rang for about a minute (literally) each time.It's going too far to say we did not like this but if the hotel was looking for an area where an improvement might be made, we'd suggest making fresh fruit, rather than tinned, available for breakfast. Lack of English breakfast.Cosmetic things only: Lighting throughout the hotel needs to be updated, since it makes the rooms look gloomy and downgrade all of its great qualities. Also, they promised wi-fi, but access was very sporadic. A little thing, that could mean a lot to folks on their arrival is to change the front doors which are two little narrow spring loaded doors which are very awkward to navigate with bags. Unfortunately the only bad point about the hotel was the poor quality breakfast. A metal beaker with a saucer on top is not a teapot and the croissants were awful.The staff would benefit from some training in food preparation and handling. The worst breakfast during our four weeks in Europe.Breakfast! Quite a poor continental breakfast. Orange juice machine used powdered juice and was often empty. A small selection of hot food i.e. sausages/ scrambled egg would have gone down a treat and would be so easy to do!. Breakfast service not great. The hotel might like to consider making hot water dispenser available to guests instead of waiting to be served by sometimes grumpy staff.the bathroom could be improved, e.g. there is no curtains to shut the water. The air conditioning was a little noisy, The breakfast area could have been cleaner. the road (small alley) leading to the hotel rather dirty and quiet at night. heating too strong. I have one major gripe with Hotel Abbazia. Asthmatics will find it impossible to stay at this hotel as they use "aromatherapy" room perfumes liberally all over the premises, from the lobby and breakfast room to the individual hotel rooms. For this reason I would never ever book a room there again!. breakfast room could be cleaner,bedroom needed to be dusted more attention to detail required. A little bit expensive. Price does not justify the services and room size. Tariffs too high for a 3 star, if prices are reduced then a good hotel.We were promised that the bathroom door would be fixed and this never happened which was dissappointing.

The Hotel Abbazia is situated just in the historical centre, only 100 metres from Santa Lucia railway station and about an 8-minute walk from the car terminal at Piazzale Roma. From Marco Polo Airport: You can take the ATVO Fly bus, which runs a regular line service as far as Piazzale Roma. The journey takes about 20 minutes. This is the cheapest option. Alternatively, you can take a taxi to Piazzale Roma. Your 3rd option is to take the water taxi (motoscafo) which stops just by the hotel.. By Car: Past the bridge Ponte della Libertà, which links Venice with the mainland, you reach the car terminal, Piazzale Roma, where most of the public garages of Venice are to be found. As our hotel belongs to the Venetian Hotel Association (A.V.A.), our guests can take advantage of a discount on the parking cost if they utilize the Garage San Marco. From there, you can reach the hotel by foot or choose to catch the vaporetto (water bus) number 82 or number one and get off at the 1st stop, Ferrovia.
