The location seems to be its strongest point as it is close to the bus and train stations (about a ten minute casual walk). It is also near the main sights and very close to the Grand Canal where you can dine at local restaurants for a very reasonable 20 euro or so. Another great thing about Alabarda Dependence is that it has a family run feel to it whereby you feel as if you are lodging at an Italian friend's apartment. The staff are tremendously helpful, all you need to do is to ask them for .
all reviews » Staff were very friendly and helpful, I did not arrive in Trieste until midnight as was delayed en route - despite the inconvenience to them they stayed open for me to check in. Breakfast was excellent, a good choice of breads, savouries and tea/coffee. Great location, only minutes from centre and train station, hotel is on very quiet road. The only a/c is a fan, it kept room cool but disturbed my sleep as was so noisy. No way to heat water for tea. Walls very very thin and high level of noise from other rooms and hallways; could hear their conversations, snoring etc. The translation on the vending machines was "do not reset" which is in no way explaining does not give change; would be making big profits for the B&B by this rip off. You could end up paying 2 euro for a 50c item. Street noise was high from 6am deliveries even with window closed. A bit dark in a room we got. The sunlight by the morning and the noise of the steps do in the room. The hotel and room need some renovation in the short run. Note there is no AC, so it can get quite warm. Hard uncomfortable beds. it was scruffy, some paint and the attention to details would have been better. very basic!. The walls are dirty.
