Hotel Clarisse is lovely. Simple rooms but clean and comfortable. However it's the staff that make it a great hotel. They go out of their way to help you with your traveling plans around Rome and make you feel welcome. Sergio in particular was wonderful to us. He told us about an amazing local restaurant, found last minute tour to the Vatican, and even accompanied me to a shoe repair to help translate. I would stay here again simply for the service.
all reviews » The hotel staff were all very nice and extremely helpful. They assisted with setting up tours and transportation. They even packed our breakfast to go, since our tour departed before the restaurant opened. We didn't spend much time in the room other than to shower and sleep, but the rooms were comfortable with good air conditioning (August!) and doors that opened to the courtyard. We were able to walk to many of the major sites. It was lovely. The staff was super friendly and helpful. There was a little problem with our room, and the concierge gave us no hassles and moved us to another room. I forgot my pajamas, they saved them and have them all wrapped up in a bag when I came to pick them up. They were also helpful with printing out my museum reservations. Oh, the location is closed to all the major sites and good restaurants. The location was very nice. The room was fine, although the pillows were the worst we've ever slept on. Our stay was nice and the location was close to Pantheon and within walking distance of most major sights. The hotel is located on a quiet side street. They had a nice breakfast with some fruit, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, and pastries. We might stay there again. Our room was very large for European standards and nicely appointed. Perfect for travelling with our 2 late teen daughters. Breakfast included at the hotel restaurant was a bonus. Location was wonderful, colosseum 10 min walk south, Spanish Steps 20 min walk north. Extremely knowledgable & helpful staff. Breakfast was varied, fresh & plentiful. Dont bother with the two restaurants on each end of the street. Have dinner at cucina ciambella (same place you have breakfast) wonderful wine list reasonably priced and good food. The staff speak a multitude of languages. Wonderful. Bed also fell to the middle when sleeping. The bedding was a disappointment. Room was dark and a bad smell was coming from the refrigerator cabinet area. Never saw the roof garden...they didn't tell us about it. The walls are paper thin but it did not bother us much. not a great choice for breakfast but ok. Lack of phone service in the room. The entrance to the Hotel was poor and needed some attention. pain ont eh corridors and doors to the rooms looked old and grubby. There was aplumbing issue on the last two days and the corridors and entrance were flooded with foul smelling water. Breakfast could use some scrambled eggs but other than that there are zero complaints!. The sign outside is the size of a small envelope , makes it hard to find , it's also very very quiet, but then it was a nunnery in the past!. - Entrance doesn't give the impression of a good hotel. shower was small and water fluctuated in temperature. No telephone in room to call reception. Nothing. The shower goes hot and cold what ever time of day it is. The breakfast was served in the adjacent cafe (which wasn't a problem) but the choice and service there was better earlier than later. Nothing at all. Rooftop terrace was disappointing. Maid left our make-up bags in empty bidet after cleaning bathroom. Ugh. 1. Lift looks scary. 2. Entrance is kind of hidden. small elevator .. Nothing. No Shower in our room, only jacuzzi bath with handheld shower. The street outside a bit noizy. No parking and though the staff told me where garages where, none were close and very confusing considering the LTZ. It's an apartment, there is nothing to do except sleep. Bath aeratio automatic and noisy without possibility to switch it out: had to wait 10' before it would turn out by itself. Nothing in particular !!. The street is a bit noisy especially early morning. Breakfast in the restaurant was a bit poor and not of a good quality. Shabby entrance (dead plants) and low-budget, motel style reception area. Rome hotels are very expensive. This hotel just needs to be updated & generally cleaned up(primarily common ares) in order to be a good value. Room lacked a proper wardrobe to store clothes, it also lacked a work table, there was no place to put anything, we lived out of suitcases on the floor.
