Small boutique hotel with Italian Renaissance decor. Updated bathrooms, though small by American standards, had many unique features not usually seen in hotels in the usa. The owner, Roberto, is professional and takes great pride in the attention to the details of the hotel. Very clean and comfortable. Very near top attractions and local cafés. I have stayed there 5 times over the last 5 years, and appreciate the unique and lush appearance of the hotel, but if you are into large spaces and cont.
all reviews » Our host Roberto, his wife and the staff were welcoming and took extra care of our needs. We booked two single rooms and sometimes in the past we have been allocated tiny, substandard rooms. The rooms at the Celio were charming, clean and the location between the Colosseo and Laterano was fabulous. This was the first time we have ventured out of the Trevi/Tritone area. (We go to Rome each year over past 15 years and this experience was one of our most enjoyable. Grazie Roberto!!. The location was great, only a few blocks from the Colosseum and the Forum. The decor was beautiful, the staff warm and very helpful, it was very clean and comfortable. They serve a delicious breakfast from 8-10, in a lovely garden setting, and it is complimentary ! We liked it so much we decided to stay on for our second night in Rome. I would highly recommend the Hotel Celio, and will stay there again when in Rome. The hotel was in a very good position for either walking or catching one of the many buses that went from nearby. There were quite a few bars and restaurants nearby but the hotel was quiet so you could get a good night's sleep. The room was large enough with a small side room for clothes. The bathroom was a decent size and the room was cleaned every day. The décor, cleanliness, staff and location were perfect. The air-conditioning in the early August heat was a godsend. The suite was very relaxing. We asked for a taxi to be ordered and it arrived well before time. Will definitely go there again. It made my first trip to Rome perfect. I could not fault it. Not where I want to spend my calories in Rome, but to each his own!. Like most hotels in Europe, the rooms are usually smaller than we Australians are used to. However, it was not a problem for us. The breakfast was exactly the same every day even down to the flavour yoghurt. My son's room was not overlooking the patio, as expected, but was still a pleasant room. I loved every part of it!. N/A. I did not know my room's phone number or how to reach the reception when required. For where it is I didn't find anything to dislike. N/A. 4th floor without lift was not so nice, the room couldn't be locked from inside, TV didn't work, the sink either. Small shower, no control over air conditioning. Centralized air conditionning made the room a bit cold. Bathroom - especially shower was very small. Not as centrally located as I thought it would be. Parking,. Liked everything. The room is too small and kind or smelly. Small cramped dark rooms. The view from the balcony was the top of a tent. The owner was a gruff and unfriendly, but did accommodate our requests. The bedroom and bathroom were tiny, the window was totally blocked with a huge green awning outside, the shower was appalling, the roof terrace was unattractive with a childs paddling room pool taking pride of place. It felt like we were on an overnight train sleeper carriage. I advised two days before arrival that my husband is gluten-intolerant and they served him a yoghurt for breakfast. Expensive and not value for money!. Room very small . Bed very small. Bad service. Expensive. No wifi in the room.
