This Hotel own beach club is definatly great thing - city beaches is far and crowd. Also there a indoor and outdoor swimming pools. Staff is professional - almost everybody speaks at few languages. Excelsior have two resto and two bars - they are OK, selections of food and wine is enough for foodies and wine lovers. For me was a huge surprise - some vegan dishes choice in "Lord Byron" with lovely view to the sea. Own SPA - which one i didn't use, can't say nothing. Rooms is clean and big enough.
all reviews » It was just perfect! A really luxurious hotel with it's own beach which is located on the other side of road and you can get there using a roofed-bridge. The food in Eden Roc restaurant was amazing! Usually when abroad I prefer to eat in different places to try more and to see new places, but here I was ready to have every dinner in Eden Roc:) Staff is extremely helpful and friendly (they have also Russian-speaking personnel as well as Russian chennels). Our deluxe room with a huge terrace was . Reception staff Laura, Camila, Daniele and Angelo were more than forthcoming to accommodate our 2 small children and their needs. The same with Housekeeping that was so attentive to provide more towels and soap than usual sets of 2 - which very few hotels actually do unless upon request. Everyone was very welcoming and helpful throughout the stay. 4Pm high tee with scones, clotted cream and strawberry jam overlooking the ligurian coast on the veranda added to a memorable impression with super b. Fabulous hotel with tons of ammenities, on beautiful grounds with spectacular views. Great lobby, restaurants, bar, etc, swimming pool, spa, etc, and very attentive staff. If you've got pets, they're treated like kings and queens. Check out their pet menu! ; ) Overall, a Majestic hotel, located in a beautiful town by the sea close to Portofino. Good food in very pleasing and romantic settings. If you go take a look at the antique furniture around the place. The staff were exceptionally helpful and nothing was to much for them. Pretty much everything. This is a stunningly beautiful hotel in an equally beautiful location and it's run like clockwork. Gorgeous decor, elegant furnishings, wonderful staff, lovely food, AMAZING views. And a lot to do, even without leaving the hotel, since it has its own leisure/beauty complex, sun terrace and little rocky beach. It was absolutely perfect to stay there. It has a such a beautifull view. It has a perfect sea side and pool. But mostly I should say that staff were very friendly. Hotel is 5 minutes away from Portofino( by car). The location was absolutely fantastic, the staff was really nice and welcoming and we loved the history behind the hotel. everything it dosn't get better than this and has been a great place for the 30 years we have been staying there !. The position. In my opinion little bit overpriced for all - rooms, beach club access, breakfast (classic continental with poor choices) and restaurant. Access to the beach opens only at 9 am! And you have to run then to get sunbeds closer to water coz by 8.55 am there is already a line in front of the beach entrance. No tea facilities in the room. Baby cots are a jewel from the past that might not be missed if upgraded in due time. The hotel manual stated that requesting towels at the indoor pool would be charged with 5 e, which would seem awkward in a luxury hotel. We stayed at the hotel 12 years ago and I recall breakfast to be more opulent and exquisite with fine Italian delicacies back then - 25 e for the good but not excellent choice of food now was overpaid. Staff seemingly under the age of 16 did not enhance the service quality. Breakfast was pricey, we didn't feel like eating a whole lot so we didn't indulge, but checked it out. We've had comparable breakfasts at other hotels some included in price. The rooms could use some updating. Carpets are looking worn. (That said, it is still a spectacular hotel). The only criticisms are that they allow smoking in the outside sections of the two restaurants and do not provide smoke free seating for those who do not like smoke with food. The other point is not really a criticism, but this is not a place for those who cannot do stairs as access to the sea and the sun terraces is only by stairs. While the food a wine are of a very high standard, the prices were a little high. Pretty much nothing to complain about, except not having enough time there!. Have to go back home!. Very expensive restaurant especially for childrens meals. I guess this is why it is very quiet. Wi-fi should be included when you're spending upwards of £400 a night on a room. Car parking abit unfair-free if you managed to get a space on hotel forecourt otherwise charged to park in their garage. The room could be bigger. nothing. When going for lunch at the terrace restaurant you have to walk through the crowded pool area with wet floor and all that fuss. The concierge did not mention that the eight-mile round-trip to Portofino, for dinner, would cost Euros100!. nothing. Use of sports facility and pool was limited perhaps because of our price?. poor internet access. no help with problems. Outdoor swimming pool area was a bit small. Small room for a couple with two children, so we had to book two rooms: one for children and one for adults. Expensive restaurant = cost of two rooms. The fitness center is too small for a hotel like this !. Small indor pool. The staff at check-in was not as polite and formal as you expect in a 5 star-L hotel. On the contrary, the check-out-staff was perfect. Bar and food prices a little too high, but in fairness the area is expensive. At the breakfast buffet there was no one to tell you where to sit or even acknowledge you. It is a tough climb up steep drive or steps to hotel by foot if you want to venture into town. 7 euro for small bottled water in room bit of a rip off. I did not like the gym, and I must admit that I was very disappointed to see the small room where everything seemed so cramped together. Exorbitant prices for food laundry, fact you have to pay for wi-fi when most three star hotels offer it for free, breakfast was 30 euros a head which is a bit ridiculous, and the difficult access to the road from the drive way are just some of the things a 5 star hotel should think about if its to consider itself a five star hotel. nothing. car park not enough. Nothing. I didn't like that the hotel booking said clearly that breakfast is included in the rate. But when we checked in we were told and shown that only the first night was included for breakfast and access to swimming pool and beach, where the other nights do not include them!. The hotel is in need of an update. For a 5 star hotel, we expected a bit more in terms of luxury. The spa was not very nice at all and the rooms were old and need to be spruced up. There really wasn't much that we found nice about Rapallo and spent most of our time in Santa Margarita, one town over. Free wifi only in a public area. The (included) breakfast was not very extensive and the staff there was not attentive/friendly. The signs to/in the spa area were insufficient. I didn't like the standard rooms its very small.and the wifi is not strong in the rooms. Problem with heating system, it was +32C in the room and climate control does not work, were not able to sleep with open window, infant could have caught cold. Outside temperature was +3C. Hotel staff were not able to help. No free WIFI in the room. For the prices they charge it should be included. Breakfast selection poor. Many items were displayed as in a supermarket. Quality of the meals in the beach restaurant only average. Waiters very hectic not suiting the relaxed setting. Beach towels of poor quality. Blanket's on the bed to heavy for the warm climate. The 5 Star grading in no relation what other hotels offer. Overpriced and no class!.
