We loved the convenience and friendly atmosphere of the Hotel Duomo so much that since we could not easily get to our next stop conveniently we stayed an extra night. It was lovely there in Orvieto. This hotel was outstanding. It is family owned and operated. Breakfast was great, restaurant recommendations were outstanding and it has secure parking nearby. We highly recommend this hotel.

No wifi in room, sort of high price for use of their computer, room not available until 1:30.slightly stuffy staff. The room was very noisy. You could hear people walking and talking in the halls as though they were in your room.There was a smell of urine from the toilets and the breakfast was of a poor and limited quality... Nobody spoke English and they failed to tell us that the hotel parking cost €30. We chose this hotel as it appeared to be on the upper end of the quality but we were sorely dissapointed.

Set on a tufa platform 325 metres above sea-level, Orvieto tells an ancient and suggestive story; it has been inhabited since the Bronze and Iron ages and was historically an important Etruscan city. At that time its name was known as Velzna or Volsinii Veters.

Traces of the past are evident in the many architectural styles found in the city: from the Etruscan temples to Medieval palaces; from the imposing cathedral to the tall Moro clock tower. Recent renovations have recuperated important buildings for use as congress halls and to hold important events: the Captains Palace; Luigi Mancinelli Theatre; Palace of Sette; and Saint John's Cloister.
