Mestre Hotels

My husband, 3 year old daughter and I simply walked in and asked if they had a room for 1 or 2 nights. (Our cruise from Venice was cancelled due to the ship hitting a reef, so we had to find accommodation until our new cruise left!) We found this hotel after almost giving up hope when turned down by almost 10 hotels. There was a huge art festival in the city and everyone was booked out. This place was just what we were looking for, after getting sticker shock from the hotels in Venice proper! It is right across the street from the Mestre train station, which runs 6 trains an hour to Venice San Lucia (across the lagoon) -- trains cost 1 euro and only take ~ 10 minutes, so it's very convenient. Our room was very comfortable (we got a free upgrade, even), and hotel staff was very nice and helpful (and speak perfect English). They have free wifi downstairs and in their upstairs bar - Mukesh

Great location, friendly, helpful staff! Set in the sleepy backstreets of Venice this hidden gem provided an excellent central base to stroll or gondola to anywhere in Venice. - Robert

This hotel is located about halfway between the airport and the port so it is a very convenient base for those embarking on a cruise. Venice itself is a difficult location for those carrying heavy luggage, especially if, like us, you're a senior citizen. This hotel is located in Mestre, a suburb to the north of Venice, and is conveniently situated close to restaurants, shops, etc. If you wish to spend some time in Venice, there are buses from right outside the hotel. Location of hotel near airport was good for early morning flight. Price was high at 130 euros for one night. Room was very large by european standards with a large bathroom. Check-in staff was very helpful and we got our room early in the morning, Asked for a 4 am wake-up call as we arranged to take the first shuttle (4 euros each) and they called us at 3 am - no apologies for that faux pas. Very good hotel. Excellent breakfast and very helpful staff. The location is great. Just opposite train station. Train to venice costs only 1 euro for 10 minute trip. Travelling to treviso airport was also very easy. - Anonymous

Great Hotel just about 10 minutes fm the island (bus 12 two blocks from the hotel). Quiet neighbour. A few restaurants nearby. A supermarket 1 block away. No so expensive. Alexandra help us incredible!!! She´s great, she will help you with everything she can! We booked a double room (77 EUR). Very nice. Air Condition OK. Breakfast perfect! Of course there´re hotels in the island for 90 euros aprox the double room, but not so nice as these one for the money. I´ve been in Venice 3 times, a - Andrew

Very good Hotel. Everybody were very nice and helpful. The rooms where quite small but with good style. Very simple and clean. IKEA style. The breakfast was very good with everything I like. From bread to croissant, coffee and milk, yoghurt and cereals, fruit and juices. It was very good with fresh products. The location it´s very good if you want to travel to Venice and other cities nearby. There is nothing special about the location himself, in a quiet street. They have Internet wireless for - Pam

i realize that european hotels are not the same as american hotels - but even keeping that in mind i did have a few complaints about this one ... our room was so tiny - there were 2 single beds pushed together in the middle of the room and that was it - there was just enough room to walk around the bed and no more - i am not exaggerating at all - the room was just big enough to accommodate the bed. The bathroom was also super-tiny. if you divided it into 4 parts you'd have the toilet in 1 cor - Peter

Cris Hotel is located 90 seconds away from the bus stop to Venice, 12 minutes by bus to Venice, and it's 8 minutes walking from Mestre's central station. The hotels in Venice are over-priced, so mestre is a good alternative. The staff of the hotel is lovely and helpful, the hotel is clean and and comfertable (yet no elevator), and the breakfast is standart and good. The room itself is not big, but it is rather comfortable. The shower is tiny, and it was not easy to take a good shower. Moreove - David

I booked this hotel after reading good reviews on Trip Advisor. It was excellent value for money and we saved a fortune by not staying in Venice itself. The hotel is a five minute walk from Mestre train station, where you can catch either a train or a coach (ACTV) to Venice for one euro. In Venice we bought a two day ticket for the water buses which also covered the ACTV bus from Mestre to Venice. We caught an ATVO coach from Marco Polo airport to right outside Mestre train station with no troub - Penny
