Ostello San Frediano was right within the walls of Lucca, a wonderful Italian medieval city. There are cafes and shops around the corner and a beautiful old church to admire right next door. Our room was actually on two levels with two single beds downstairs and a double with bathroom and a good shower upstairs. There was a deluxe feel to it even though the hostel is budget accommodation. There were marble floors, high ceilings and many lounge areas, wi-fi in the lobby only and the staff were h.

Great hostel, one of my favourites on my 4 month trip around all of europe. The building itself reminded me of a hotel, but changed into a comfortable and friendly hostel. It has a grand feel about it. Which really suited the town of lucca, which is also very lovely aswell! Facilities were great, internet great, bed great. Not a bad word to say about this hostel. Great place to stay in, especially on a budget. Comfortable bed and well heated rooms, this is definitely a good place to sleep in. In particular, in-house dining area has great food and very friendly service. All around, it was a good place to stay. Common areas are huge. Room was pleasant and sparse, and it served our purpose of having a base to leave suitcases, park car, explore the city and sleep well!. The place is outstanding. Nice old fully renovated cloister with nice design and details. Helpful staff. The pizzeria accross the street offers good pizza and atmosphere. Location was excellent. Location inside city walls, garden, good car parking, generally good/comfortable basic facilities at reasonable price. It was perfect as my base to tour around that whole area by train. Made some new friends too! Great experience!. It's in a huge old building with great amounts of space. The guy making the breakfast was a real riot. I recomend this hostel. Location. The hostel is a part of the church, I like it. location; room size. The location was good and the price was reasonable. Breakfast included would have been nice, but for the price you pay to stay, who could complain. While Wi Fi isn't strong enough in the room, it was fine in tyhe rest areas. The shower curtain isn't secured so the bathroom floor was soaking. Very unpleasant. No low lighting.I couldn't get on line with iPad. The use a cleaning agent with strong smell. A tv or radio would be a good upgrade. Better bath towels. breakfast facilities too basic. Nothing. It's a good Hostel. Better signposting and broken attachments that hold the shower heads. Breakfast just tea/coffee and dried bread and jam for €3. Nothing. -It's pretty far from the train station -The breakfast is not included. Too hot in the room during summer time, no air condition. no wifi on room; modest accommodations; breakfast not included and very unsatisfying;. It was not well maintained. The showers had mold, the curtains were dirty, the floor was grimy and the sitting rooms looked like college dormitories. The internet didn't work, and the night clerk didn't care.
