The location of the hotel was walking distance for all the sites but set off the street to keep noise distraction down while in the room. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was perfect with fresco painted ceilings in the common areas. I would highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel is located on the first floor of the building with no lift. But the staff helped us with our luggage when we arrived and left.

me and my girlfriend were staying at the hotel and we enjoyed every second of our staying, the location couldnt have been better, 10 mins walking from the train station and 2 mins walking from the doumo and the center. lovely staff. 5 of 5.

The staff were friendly, helpful, and very efficient. Our room was bright and airy, with high ceilings and a nice view into a courtyard. The bed was big and very comfortable. The shower was great. The biggest plus for us was the location - a few minutes' walk took us to the Duomo, San Marco, the Academia, San Lorenzo & the Mercado - really everything we needed - and we loved being able to walk everywhere. We would definitely stay here again.

Coffee at breakfast came from one of those machines where you press a button and tasted awful. Too bad in a city of delicious coffee! We ordered espresso from the bar and paid extra.

This is a lovely hotel in the heart of Florence. Great location, great staff and nice breakfast.

Location is two blocks north of the Piazza del Duomo and 1 1/2 blocks south of Piazza San Marco a major bus hub. Many places to eat within a 5 minute walk. The morning breakfast had many good selections.

Had to carry bags up from the ground level to the 1st floor hotel level.

Proximity to the historic center. Excellent staff, they carried our luggage, gave us recommendations to restaurants, and the private walking tour given by Paolo was fantastic.

Locatio, location, location!!! The staff is extremely helpful. The Breakfast is served in a beautifully decorated room with original painted on ceiling. Despite on the fact the hotel is on the seconf floor and you have to carry your luggage with no lift, dear Paolo can see you with an intercom and is ready to help you. The can help to make a reservation to all the galleries to skip the queue and it is cheaper than you can do it via internet, they just make a call to the galleries and give you a reservation number, no credit card needed. Paolo is a certified guide and speaks fluent English, be sure he is very good to show you this amasing city!!!!! The Breakfast is rich enough, cold cut, eggs, fruits, croussants, jams, ets , the only dissapointing things is a coffe machine with powder milk smell of coffe. We stayed in a Family Room which is a separated wing with 2 split rooms and 2 bathrooms. It faces the street with buses and they start from 6 am, anyway you hace a good sleep sfter that busy day. Duomo is just 3 mins by walk, Academy is just around the corner, this is great !!!! Dear Hotel and the city, I would definately come soon!!!!!

Coffee machine must go, if it is the only dissapointment. Can be noisy in the night time , crowds of tourists are passing by from Duomo, make sure you have your earplugs. Nothing else

The staff was really helpful with making recommendations for restaurants and tours. The breakfast was also really good.

The showers were very small. The Internet did not work in our room (we were the farthest room from the lobby, so the signal may not have reached that far). Also, the only way to acces the hotel is from a long flight of stairs and there is no elevator. This was not a huge problem, but we were traveling with our elderly parents so this slowed us down a lot.

The staff there are pretty friendly and willing to help or answer all my questions. The location of the hotel is good and close to all the major museums/churches/basilicas. Breakfast is nice too.

The staff were very very helpful whenever we need help and advise. Example, trip advise, usage of their printers and internet, baggage help.

It was a pity there were no lift to the reception level. However, the staff helped us carry all our bags during the check in and after our check out process, a big thank you to Paulo. The breakfast selection were the same and with limited selection on hot food. Bathroom can be a little wider, giving we need to crab walk from the basin, to the left for the toilet bowl, or to the right for the shower.

The staff was extremely helpful. They helped with reservations to local museums, connected me with a travel agent for train tickets, and had extra umbrellas for guests to use.

There is a beautiful marble staircase from the entrance to the lobby, but no bellman or handrails. However, the staff is so helpful I am sure they would help with luggage if asked.

I thought the hotel and staff were excellent. When we arrived there were a few steps to climb up to get to the hotel but one of the staff ran down to help us. The hotel is elegant, nicely furnished and good value for the money. The room was nice with a good ensuite bathroom. It is 10 mins. Walk to the Duomo and te centre of Florence. The staff are very friendly and I can highly recommend this hotel.

I like to have a good muesli cereal for breakfast but they only had rice bubbles and cornflakes.

Unreasonably small shower; breakfast was sparse with no toaster (panini press, but not practical for toasting bread) and sub-standard coffee/espresso machine.

Well situated for all the sites . A beautiful hotel with a history ,the ceilings are masterpieces.Good breakfast. Helpful,friendly staff. The suite was excellent.

Very good location, very helpful & courteous personnel, rooms are big and clean, whatever we needed was provided immediately. Highly recommended for a trip in town as you can reach everything within a 5 minutes walk.

Great staff (Ariana, Francesca, another gentlement at the front dest and all breakfast staff). They went out of their way to help with everything we asked them. They were polite and extremely friendly. They made you feel important ...not just another guest/number. They thoroughly went through Florence map with us and recommended places that we would not have known to check out (i.e The Jewellery Bridge...went there and bought a necklace). Staff dedication and local knowledge were amasing. Ariana even knew the best way to get to Pisa tower and how much it costs and how long it takes to get there. One night after a long day walk my son wanted a hot chocolate drink......Arianna went out of her way to make one for him for free. It would not cost much but what a great gesture Arianna, much appreciated. We felt looked after. Overall, it was just a great and pleasant experience staying here and will definely be staying here again next time we are in Florence and will not hesitate recommending this hotel to family and friends. Last but not least, breakfast was very good with their selection (compare to most European hotels we have stayed at in Paris, Nice and Rome). It feels like a 4 Stars Plus hotel instead of 3 (by European standard). Well done and thank you to all the staff at Macchiaioli. Excellent location, friendly and accomodating staff, wonderful building. Wide choice of savoury and sweet food for breakfast. Clean and beautifully decorated rooms. No lift, but all you have to do is ask for help and the staff will meet you at the bottom of the stairs to help you carry your luggage. Family room facing main street may be a little noisy at night: have ear plugs ready and you'll be fine. If you don't know where to dine or need any help, ask Paolo. He's friendly and multilingual. Highly recommended hotel.

The hotel was beautiful and very clean. The gentleman who was working the desk when we checked in was amazingly helpful. He recommended a restaurant to us that was fantastic as well as a wonderful tour route for our limited time in the city. The location was perfect for getting everywhere by foot. The breathtaking Duomo was blocks away. Just loved this hotel!

The real positive from this hotel is location, which is excellent. Clean and overall aspect is just okay, reviews seems overrated.

Room incredibly small, you hardly can move in the bathroom. Breakfast disappointed too, there's not much variety.

It was a true 3 star hotel. The location is really good. Some staff were really nice and friendly but one was fair.

Very plain & the safe was too small. 13" laptop will not fit, so you will have to store it somewhere else. No business center.
