The hotel staff was outstanding! Arriving early from Rome, we expected to wait for an available room. This was not the case. We were given the keys to a great room with a balcony facing the mountain topped by the beautiful Monte Cassino Abbey. When we asked for the location of a rental car office, the hotel manager said he would contact a company that could deliver a car to the hotel. The company delivered a great car right on time the next morning, and picked it up at the hotel when we checked.
all reviews » We recently spent two nights at the Hotel La Pace in Cassino. We asked for a hotel with a view of the monastery on MonteCassino. Our window looked directly up to the monastery; it was an all-pervading presence in the town. Our host, Pino, was attentive to our every need and helpfully accommodated our less rational requests and fears of the road up the mountain. The owners are really friendly and could not be more helpful - we were desperate for a swim when we arrived after driving down from Rome and and he negotiated a discount for us at the local pool (since we were arriving quite late). We asked for a family room for our 5 kids and an adjoining room for us and were provided with really nice comfortable rooms. The views from the rooms on the 3rd floor of the abbey and castle were fantastic. I would definitely come back. This is a family owned hotel where everyone is friendly and helpful. They were especially helpful in making sure we were able to see everything - the abbey, commonwealth cemetery and the Historiale Museum which were all worth visiting. We had a view of the abbey from our room. Although the hotel was on a busy road, noise was not a problem as the windows blocked it out and there was air con. Breakfast was very good with great cappuccinos. We were there to take a tour of Monte Cassino the next day, and for a one night stay the hotel was good and well priced. Secure off street parking around the rear of the hotel .. but you do need to reserve a space as there is not a lot of it. A mix up of the required non-smoking room was corrected immediately. We looked out at the Abbey from our side.. but that does mean you have all the road noise, which for us, was constant. The breakfast was very good. I got a lot of tips and help from Pino, the hotel manager, and the other staff when planning my day trips in and around Cassino, making it a very memorable visit. The "La Pace" is a very good choice when you want to stay near the town centre for a fair price. La Pace was ideal for our needs. It was in an excellent location and our balcony overlooked the monastery of Monte Cassino. The staff were extremely helpful and went out of there way to to assist us. The room was clean and adequate and the a good continental breakfast was on offer. We selected this hotel for location when visiting Napels which was 6 euros by train, the Mediterran Coast 1 hour and the Adriactic Coast 1 1/2 hours by car. Good value for the room rate including continental breakfast. Close to all highway's. On our arrival the staff had laid on food and drinks for us a way of saying 'welcome'. They accomodated us with opening the restaurant at lunch time (it was 'off' season) for us to return and eat while we toured around the local area. mostly everything tho place is quite dated & could do with a bit of modernising, as my wife put it " a bit like staying at someones's grandmothers house" however everything is clean & tidy and the staff were great. This is a very friendly hotel. The staff was extremely helpful, the room was very clean, and a lovely assortment of pastries for breakfast. The price was right. Could not ask for more. There was nothing I disliked. Nothing to dislike. Nothing - loved it all. Having to leave!. Decor a bit faded and carpeting needs to be replaced. Not very close to other restaurants. No complaints. The town is a bit shabby. No toilette paper in Room. Nothing!. Room could have been aired before arrival.
