Surrounded by olive groves and fruit trees, Hotel La Piana is a historic 13th-century building. Just outside Buggiano Castello, it offers an outdoor pool and hot tub and produces extra-virgin olive oil. The swimming pool is open from March until November and offers beautiful views of the surrounding hills. In the garden you will also find sun loungers, a football pitch, bowling green and playground. Indoors, the property features antique furniture, stone walls and ceilings with wood and terracotta panels. Every room and suite is different but all offer views of the valley. This is a wonderful accommodation. The views are stunning, and the rooms are really really excellent. There are many small details which leave a lasting memory: bedding and towels beautifully monogrammed with the villa's logo, dressing gowns carefully placed in antique wardrobes, fruit and linen napkins left for a snack, personally wrapped slippers, and....the most exquisite breakfast imaginable. Local preserved meats, excellent cheeses, yoghurts on ice, fresh bread, fine sweet pastries...undou.
all reviews » Absolutely loved this place. Big room with a fantastic bed. Nice bathroom and it was all very clean. Hotel is nice and isolated, but there is a great restaurant just a short walk away. Didn't use the pool or hot tub due to the weather, but they both looked decent. If you are out here at the right time of year, and walking back from the restaurant at night, keep your eyes peeled for fireflies. Amazing. A wonderful place to stay! We stayed at La Piana at the end of April 2013 and were amazed by this place. Wonderful view, stylish rooms with local character and everything perfectly organized. The owners and staff are really nice and helpful. There is no restaurant at the hotel itself but not worries – 700 m away there is a nice place - St. Elena. This was a great B and B it had the charm of a B and B and the facilities of a hotel, the staff very friendly and obliging, guided us to a restaurant within walking distance with excellent food,breakfast superb, and facilities excellent and also immaculate. Wished we had made a longer booking. Beautifully designed house and rooms, very comfortable place to stay and relax. The kids loved the beautiful pool and we all enjoyed the great Toscan landscape. The garden is huge and nice to walk around in, or just relax and read a book. Wish we could have stayed longer.... It is great! Rooms are wonderful, there is everything that you need. Splendid view, beatiful garden, very relaxing atmosphere, good restaurant not far from the house. So warm atmosphere, so calm and cosy that I really regret that I took only one night there. Great place to stay and relax. Many interesting places nearby, for example 45min by car to Pisa or one hour by train to Florence. Well, they do say that nothing works in Italy. On this occasion the access cards to get through the gate did not work and we struggled and then waited for 20 minutes for the proprietor to return. Not so terrible...but thank goodness it wasn't raining. We were tired and starving though! Apologies were forthcoming. Minus: the driveway is really hard to find – no sing at all.
