Just returned from a short family break in the Ferrycarrig Hotel. Once again, everything about our short stay was just perfect - we would find it difficult to criticise anything. Set in a tranquil location by the Slaney estuary, and only a few miles from Wexford town, this is a perfect place to unwind. Bar food in the Dry Dock is really very good, and reasonably priced. Formal dinner in Reeds Restaurant is also high quality - great choice, and very well prepared. Rooms and facilities are highly.
all reviews » Location, service, food A1. Just spent a very relaxing evening / overnight at the Ferrycarrig. Dining in the bar overlooking the Slaney. Perfect. I had to bring forward my booking as I have to take the ferry a week earlier. No problem to them just come and enjoy. I have loved every moment of my stay here. As it is Easter break from school there are a lot of children about but NO problem at all. Excellent staff. Well done Ferrycarrig prepare to put up with this traveller again. Everything,I have stayed there a number of times and I cannot fault any aspect of the hotel and services.i left a brand new coat there on one visit and didn't remember about it for 5weeks.when I rang to enquire if it was there it was kept safely for me until my next visit.i would recommend this hotel to any one ,any age,travelling alone ,as a couple or as a family.my experiences have been the same whether I have been on business,pleasure, alone or with family. The hotel decor was lovely very elegant and inviting. The grounds and views were divine. The room was lovely, very clean( the whole hotel was spotless). The food was incredible. We ate in the restaurant both nights, we were served by lovely staff. Breaky was a lovely experience. I booked it as a surprise romantic break fir myself and my husband. It was just perfect. Cant wait to go back. We enjoyed our weekend stay in the Ferrycarraig as we found it relaxing and very enjoyable, weather a bit disappointing but unfortunately there is nothing we can do about that. It is a beautiful hotel in a beautiful location. There was a wedding there two of the days of our stay, so there was certainly a buzz about the place. I liked everything about this hotel. Lovely staff, nice rooms with the river view, breakfast had a good selection and again lovely view from the restaurant. Nice pool and choice of two saunas and jaccuzzi. Although i didn't use it, the gym looked very well equipped. I enjoyed my stay here and I will be back. The Dry Dock Bar had live music both nights, which was nice. The swimming pool/jacuzzi/sauna/steam room are very nice and the water in the pool was lovely and warm. Reeds Restaurant was had very nice food, although it was a little pricey (€80+ for a meal for two including a half bottle of wine). It was perfect the staff were so helpful and lovely to talk too my stay couldn't have been any more perfect. They had everything arranged for my room and gave me plenty of information about the hotel and Wexford area. They are lovely staff made my stay at ferricarrig fantastic thank you again. From the minute we arrived the weekend was wonderful .... Staff so friendly and helpful ... Our room was beautiful overlooking water ... Bar and restaurant fab ... Didn't get to check out leisure centre :( .... I would have no hesitation in recommending this wonderful hotel :). I liked everything about the hotel, it had a wonderful view, staff were very helpful and we got upgraded to a suite when checking in which was a lovely suprise and it made the weekend even more special. I stay there when going on the ferry but would stay there for a holiday. The location is stunning and it is always quiet in the rooms. The one hotel where I always get a good night's sleep. Very comfortable, lovely setting. Breakfast very nice with local produce. Dinner good. I found the staff very helpful in providing local info I.E. we enquired about mass times and a beach and were given printed directions to both. This was very helpful. The new refurbished rooms .The room service great food good idea having one restaurant for adults and one for parents and children it was excellent and of course the Staff thank you for a wonderful weekend. Hope to stay again in the near future. The staff were extremely helpful. I was on a business trip my husband joined me as it was my birthday, we were very fortunate to be upgraded. The room was huge and views spectacula. We dined in Reeds. Very happy with the whole experience. The fact that the hotel is so near Wexford town , has good range amenities including the spa yet retains quite an old world feel to it. It's a little bit of tranquility tucked away which you don't expect to find so near to a motorway!. The staff were more than helpful and very friendly. Our room was lovely and quite spacious. The drawer front that housed the ironing board was coming off and the iron wasn't working, although there was a second ironing board and iron set in the closet. There was a noisy family staying above us the second night and it was quite easy to hear them. There was a wedding the day and night we stayed. We were put in a ground floor room and music from below could be heard until after 3am. I felt we should have been given a room which was a greater distance from the celebrations and loud music. Also room was very, very warm and I could not locate any thermostat to adjust the temperature. I would have opened the door onto our veranda, but the music from the wedding celebrations would have been much louder. what was not to like. Nothing. The bar food wasn't so good but I have stayed here before so that was an exception as the food is generally lovely and the breakfast is very good in the restaurant. The play ground could be larger and a little better equipped other than that I couldn't find fault with the place. Canot find fault with anything. Perhaps a little more choice from the evening resturant menu.. Other than that nothing!. There was no relaxation room after our treatments which was very good. It would have been nice to have had a quiet place to relax afterwards. The weights section in the gymnasium is a bit dated.The décor in the room (405)/ bathroom is also a bit dated and ready for upgrade. Nothing. Nothing to Report. It was a long weekend and there were a large number of children in the hotel. we only had one night to enjoy this hotel. Could do with licks of paint in corridors and changing rooms, but this did not detract from overall satisfaction. We have no complaints about Ferrycarraig Hotel - we hope to go back again. Nothing everything faultless. Restaurant meals were under standard. I expected more for our money. I was charged 3.99 for one ball of ice cream - later refunded. Menu choice was limited. I'm all for entertainment but at 2.00am perhaps there were some in the hotel who preferred a nights sleep. I do think a 4pm check in is quite late, we were at a wedding and although our room was ready (as I had requested an early check in if possible) some other guests had to get changed in other peoples rooms or the leisure centre which was a bit inconvenient. Other than this I cannot fault anything. The food quality in Reeds restaurant wasn't good in the evening (but the Bar food in the hotel was very good). Also, the restaurant is under-staffed at breakfast time so service is quite slow. nothing. The food was generally up to standard but chef tends to overcook fish a bit. Bar was a bit busy. Could have done with a couple more staff!. Hotel and rooms are showing their age unreliable internet Mixed quality service at restaurant Poor breakfast buffet. Biscuits would be welcome with coffee/tea making facilities in the room. The room was too hot! Despite opening windows... The fact that my stay ended My only complaint was after the housekeeper had finished my room one day my door was left open but we are all allowed one error!!!. Nothing.
