We liked everything about this hotel. It is a very old hotel which has been restored beautifully. Our room faced the Irish Sea and the view was beautiful. It was located very close to the train and also the bus routes. The Staff were very attentive and sensitive to individual needs. We will definitely continue to stay at the Royal Marine and enthusiastically recommend it to everyone.

We got upgraded to a suite which was great but also the hotel was in a very convenient location and the Dart service excellent.Staff were really helpful and friendly especially at reception. Sadly didnt have a chance to try the pool out but it looks very nice!. the taff and room was excellent. loved sea view and tea/cofee in room and big sized bed. We found the car park a bit difficult to navigate, the views were restricted when exiting the ramps.The hotel was a non smoking hotel...this would affect my decisionto go back. Teh common parts were disappointing. Disapointed that the Hotel was a bit charactorless.Too bland. Bedroom was no different to any other hotel, disappointing. Extras (breakfast, internet, room service, etc.) are very expensive. There was some dried toothpaste on our sink, but that's only a minor gripe!. the car park is rather tight to negotiate...unfortunately this time we were unable to secure a front room, as we know the view is fantastic over Dublin bay, so the view from the room we had at the back dampened it just a little. (minor gripe :). some of the staff wasn't as pleasant as supose to be. There was some noise early in the morning (7am) of doors banging down the corridor. When I called the front desk to re assure that there was a airport shuttle and receptionist sounded like i was bothering her. She was kind of snotty.i didnt like the fact that single occupancy was the same rate as double occupancy because the hotel only has double rooms.thats ridiculous.also the confusing situation with the lifts,one lift for certain floors and another for other floors.and a seperate lift for the carpark. if you have a room key it should be possible to go from carpark to your floor. Extremely slow bar service..I booked a twin room but was allocated a double room. It was my daughter and son-in-law's wedding day. While the wedding meal etc was very good the room bookings for many guests left a lot to be desired. breakfast a bit disappointing for over 20 euro. Breakfast was very poor considering the standard of the hotel otherwiseand the price charged. checking out was a nightmare..you need your key card to operate lift and it expires 11.55am...5 mins before the entire hotel is checking out...so your stuck!! by the time you get to checkout your late and they want to charge you a late checkout fee 40 euro!!!! BEWARE.No Tea/Coffee Making Facilities in room. little things like herbal teas, moisteriser, dressing gown etc were missing. I asked three times to have the iron in the room replaced as it was not working. The staff were dismissive when I called after it had not been delivered after 20 minutes to enquire if it was coming. the third time I called they hung up.Very poor treatment of a guest for a four star. say breakfast served till 11.30 on a card in the room but when we went down at 11 it was over at 10.30...the waitress just said "did you not get one of these in your room?" referring to a piece of paper saying breakfast over at 10.30 to which we said "Obviously not " to which she replied "Oh well it's over"....Not evben an offer of a coffee. No tea in the room only coffee. Only one pillow each on the bed. We had to request another pillow one twice before getting it. No answer on telephone from housekeeping. Very slow service for cooked breakfasts in the morning. No baked beans included in cooked breakfast either. The bathroom was very small.Hotel room was at 13oC when we entered. We asked for a warmer room butwere told it would now heat up as they had just turned it on in ourroom. 2 hrs later it was still at 13o! !! fire alarm went off at 12.30amnight time due to a fault. Told manager all at checkout next am and theyreduced charge by 30euros. Hotel beautiful, the rest needs improving.
