What people say
The facilities at Achill House were very good and this combined with
the friendliness of the staff, made the stay very enjoyable. As I have
a partial disability, the staff were excellent in helping me cope with
the stairs and we were offered a choice of different rooms to suit my
disability. Achill House offered a choice of breakfast either Full
Irish or Continental; this followed either cereals, canned fruit and
yoghurt. I would certainly recommend this B&B to anybody staying in
the Cork a. all reviews »
The staff is very friendy, and any issue you may have they will try to solve it. The room i was given it was in the ground floor close to the main door, so I ask for another one on the top, and I was changed without problem. As well in the room was a little bit cold and the staff turn on the heater. Also I was offered a tea and cookies when I arrived. The hostal is 10 min walking to san patrick street, when i stayed it was quiet and i had a good rest there, the beds are quite comfortable.
Loved my stay in this very nice place, the owner Helena is very helpful, she is like a good mother for her guests. At my arrival, I was warmly welcomed with tea and biscuits in the cosy lounge. The room is comfortable and clean. The free Wifi is very fast. The Irish breakfast was really great and tasteful. The location is only 10 minutes walk from the town. Should I stay there next time? For sure, I definitely will !.
I had a very pleasant stay at Achill house. The B&B looks lovely, the rooms are clean and beds are comfortable. The staff and the owner Helena are all great and very helpful. The breakfast was excellent. There were towels, shower gel, everything you need and more than I would expect at a B&B. I certainly recommend others to stay there as well!.
Room not very large but with good storage space and functional bathroom. Excellent breakfast made with quality products. Friendly welcome and great service. Reliable free wi-fi available in the room. Convenient location within walking distance of the city centre and on main bus route. Very good value for money overall.
Excellent accommodation - lovely sizeable, well furnished rooms! Superb service (well above and beyond call of duty!), really friendly, knowledgeable staff. Great breakfast (yummy home made pancakes) Also great value and perfect location, walking distance city centre. Highly recommended!.
Everything was fine with this B&B. The staff was really friendly and helpful and the rooms are clean and quiet. The breakfast was also really worth it. The B&B is within walking distance of the city centre. Thanks a lot to the owner and the staff for this pleasant stay.
We had a very warm welcome from the owner. She assisted with everything from directions to even parking our car in the lot. She was very accepting of our pet cocker spaniel who also spent the night. Breakfast was yummy!
We would definitely return if in the area.
The warm and friendly welcome. Helena the owner was so lovely, I was travelling alone but felt very comfortable staying there. The room was fresh and clean, breakfast was consistently good and nothing was too much trouble. It exceeded my expectations.
We really enjoyed our stay. The staff were really friendly and attentive, the rooms were spotless and comfortable. Also it was a short walk into the city centre. We will be staying here anytime we come to Cork in the future.
Comfortable and clean accommodation. Helena was very friendly and
helpful and we enjoyed chatting with her in the morning. Breakfast was
tasty and fresh. Great location to walk into Cork City or to University
College Cork.
I loved the hospitality and great breakfasts
Host went to great lengths to make my stay enjoyable including ironing my suit and shirt
I recommend this B&B to any traveller in Cork.
Helena was an amazing host. Nothing was too much trouble for her and she treated us like her own family.
The communal lounge was also great to mingle with other guests.
We were greeted warmly by the owner Helena. our room was very comfortable and quiet, it only takes a few minutes to walk to the city. The staff were very friendly.
Anna who greeted me upon my arrival was really nice and helpful. Good location, right across the street to the Cork College, walking distance to city center.
Loved that it was immaculate and friendly. The owner was very helpful with travel destinations, directions and suggesting restaurants and pubs.
Great B&B exactly where I needed it to be and reasonably priced. Friendly staff, spacious and well appointed. Good breakfasts.
Great staff. Clean and cosy accommodations. Parking and wifi included and 10 minute walk from Cork's "downtown". Very recommended.
Great location only 10min walk from town. Friendly hostess and great breakfast. Happy to accommodate gluten free diet.
Very friendly staff, great little B&B for what I needed, really only 5 mins walk from centre of town so perfect.
Nice unexpensive place to stay, friendly staff and centrally located, albeit not exactly in downtown.
Good welcome, clean ,comfortable excellent breakfast. A good B&B would recommend it to anyone.
Very friendly lady Helena allowing us to check in early and attending to us personally.
The staff was very kind. The location is quite okay. The bath tub was amazing!.
Great location. Great service. Very friendly staff. Will go back.
Friendly people. Lovely atmosphere. Great service.
Staff wad very friendly, breakfast was excellent.
Very friendly..
Price, location.
Location 5 minutes walk into Cork, staff were friendly and helpful
really good kebab shop 30m away.
location and proprietor very accommodating sorting out problems.
Absolutely nothing at all!.
May be a little bit cold in the rooms but if the heater is working is fine. Is close to the road so is easy to hear the cars, although if the room is facing to the backyard is all right.
Nothing at all.
Well actually one, that i missed the place already when I was at the Airport for the flight back to home.
Nothing.
Tight parking in the small lot but the owner assisted with that. A bit of a challenge being first timers driving on the opposite side, being from the US.
Nothing.
Nothing at all to dislike.
Be mindful that this is not a B&B and breakfast is an additional
charge. It's stated upfront O. The reservation so there is no
deception. Just something to be mindful of when you've booked
B&B's for the rest of your trip.
The wifi access wasn't great in the room we had.
Wasn't anything to dislike.
Room a bit small, but totally understandable with the location considered.
Wifi reached everywhere but the room I was in. (Yes, that is the worst thing I can find - so it was pretty good really).
Nothing. Everything ok, will come back.
Be aware of lots of stairs but there are rooms on lower levels. Car parking can be problematic.
Internet connection is slow and could be improved.
Curtain is a little bit transparent--it was a minor issue for our nap in the daytime.
There was a spider in the room. Other guests or staff members slammed the door early in the morning.
Nothing.
Furniture looks very old and outdated.
Rooms were basic for the price I base this on comparison with other
B&B's I have stayed in. Water could have been hotter especially
as the weather in Cork was freezing. Next to University campus which
brought with it plenty of noise into the early hours.
proprietors 2 year old daughter using sitting room as play room.
proprietor seemed to have a lot of distractions.
Luxury my foot....it smelt bad, like rancid grease, annoying little kids running around. No place to access Internet without owners 2 year old banging on my computer. Over priced and no Breakfast provided.....would NIT recommend to anyone....worst place I have ever stayed for that price. I would recommend staying anywhere else. Terrible bedding...awful lumpy pillows, bed uncomfortable....I could go on but why.
