My husband and I had been planning to go out of town for our birthday vacation. But then we found out that I was pregnant, and soon become too nauseated to travel abroad. One day, letsbookhotel.com sent me email of hotel deals and I found this beautiful hotel within my hometown that I've never heard before: d'Omah Jogja Hotel. For once, the write ups that an hotel puts out on its website are literally true for this hotel. We liked everything - the location in a small forested area on the outskirts of Yogyakarta; the staff's friendliness and keen desire to please their guests, all with a smile; the design of the rooms based on the Javanese kampung style; every area had a smart mix of antiques and modern dec. I think Boutique best describes the d'Omah. We loved the traditional Javanese style with the luxury touch. The rooms were spacious in delightful and seductive settings. Beautiful antiques, flowers and pools provide a relaxing and intimate atmosphere and we found it challenging to drag ourselves away from the pool and go out sightseeing. The staff were very attentive and helpful, even providing a tip on seeing a local village festival with Javanese dancing and gamelan playing. The restaurant pro. I loved the traditional architecture and layout of the several buildings around their own pool and garden. My room was spacious, light and airy and very clean. The bed was generous and comfortable. I loved the open concept bathroom. The hot water shower was readily available. The service staff were warm and accommodating. I loved being near the village and the small family own batik gallery. Would have loved to have explored the village more. The hourly prayers were rather loud but I did not mi. The hospitality of the staff were great. Very friendly and helpful. My husband and I went with our 14months old baby, the staff were so helpful keeping him entertained while we were dining with our friends. If I were to go back to Jogja, D'Omah will definitely be my choice again, no second thoughts. The villa is good for relaxing and has clean surrounding. When we left, they even gave us souvenir - a carved duck from bamboo. How sweet! So, we got them to sign on the duck for us. This was my third visit and I love this hotel, the staff are fantastic and when as on my last trip I needed fresh flowers to take for a local ceremony, they sent into Yogya for them on my behalf. The food is great, all in all, the nicest experience you can have in Yogya and one of the best in Indonesia. Absolutely fabulous! Perhaps I might have preferred not to be the furthest away from main hotel, in the dark and wet I nearly had a fall this evening at a dark spot just after the pool, I tripped near the stairs. Better lighting there or a hand rail might be a good Idea. I will just have to take it carefully. The local mosque is loud, more so than than other places I've stayed at in Java. It was impossible to sleep through it. That I could not stay longer. Everything is perfect - looking for minuses would be simply mean. About 8 km from Yogya town but only a $4 taxi fare. 4am call to prayer (but not likely to get away from this in Java) Too much shade in the garden villa. too loud at night. they are praying every morning at 4am and the mosque is just next to the hotel. was hard to fell asleep even if the hotel provides earplugs. Not in city centre but a cab is available for 2 euro. Many mosquitos. Hotel looked like it would need a little bit of makeover. Feeling of the room was not very clean, but that was probably because furniture could use makeover too. Mosques are very loud, and allthough the staff provides an earplugs, that does not really help. To the center of Jogya, rent a motorbike or taxi, it is not very near. Restaurant menu limited Low food quality (except the riztafe, Shower fittings very sub standard, definitely unfit for such a resort.
