The Hotel is beautiful overall and room is comfortable and overlooking the garden. We enjoyed our stay. However there is a lot of mosquitos at night and my friend was unable to sleep due to the mosquitoes. After spraying the whole room many times then it was better. However she was scratching non stop the next day and it left red marks on her skin. Sigh...didnt get much rest at night too, due to the mosquitoes. Everything is else is good.

The staff were very friendly and helped me arrange a birthday cake and gift for my friend on his birthday. Thank you guys. The staff were wonderful - very helpful and always smiling. Built in 1910, an exquisitely beautiful colonial hotel. Formerly Hotel Oranje, now these days called Hotel Majapahit Surabaya. Beautiful spaces, rooms and courtyard. Absolutely the best hotel in Surabaya!. Without being over-the-top, the Majapahit is in impeccable taste, with spacious rooms and well tended gardens. Sarkies (Chinese) and Indigo (Intl) restaurants are excellent. Beautiful hotel with loads of character and charm. Excellent staff all the way around. A pleasure!! Can not wait for my next stay there. The wooden floor creaks while the masseause walks around. Could not rest at all due to the creaking sound. My first and last Spa there unless the hotel refurbish it. Mosquitoes and Insects in the room at night. Hotel provided baygon for that. So, can't blame them. The things I did not like are so small, there negligible. Wine list very limited, but it is passable. Such a short trip!. The area, in fact all Surabaya, is not the best place to take a walk for the pleasure of walking. Would be good if the hotel has memberships or rewards for returning customers. Had to leave again. It was an old building that had been modernised which may not suit some people. Nothing. - very dirty linen - tons of mosquitos in the room and no mosquito-net. The hotel seems to host massive wedding parties quite often (especially in weekends). This can really spoil the experience of regular guests. Nothing. Being only one story high, some rooms were a distance from the lobby but good exercise. very expensive shuttle service. Internet is extremely slow and unreliable. Room floors were a bit dirty. Indonesia is for people who like to drink a glass of wine a difficult country! In a hotel like this you expect it's more easy, however that's not true!. Too much mosquitoes and not facilities for handicapped person to bath such as sitting stool for shower or hand grip in the shower. Not very friendly to handicapped or old patron. Initially tried to put us in a standard room rather than a terrace room that we had booked through letsbookhotel.com. Lot of the electrical sockets and lighting didn't work. Dinner not reall good. We're exect more for this class of hotel. They just have Bali wines on the list ! In a 5-star hotel you may expect good wines, not these inferior wines !. 1. The mosquitos 2. The noise of air conditioning and/or water pipes at night disturbing sleep. 3. The hotspot signal is too weak inside the room. 4. Power supply voltage is too low, meaning that phone and laptop battery chargers do not work very well or at all. 5. The restaurant food is not of international standard any more. There is too much chili in the food and not enough western style food.
