Everything was excellent on this hotel! Nice service-minded staff. Very clean, cleaning was ongoing all the time. Nice atmosphere. You really felt you was in Bali. Three very good pools. The food was a good mix of Asian and Italian food. Not so many dishes on the menu but we did not have the same dish twice on our 6-days stay. Sanur beach is not really suitable for swimming, very low level and full of seaweeds. Sanur is not the best place to relax, street vendors are harassing you and prices are up the roof. Loved everything about the Griya, but I note that they are building another 30 rooms near the Garden wing. Hope this does not make the property too big and lose the friendly atmosphere. The front beach area was being upgraded and therefore a digger was being used most of the day. This obviously had to be done at some time and unfortunately it was being done whilst we were on holiday as was the other pool renovation. This is understandable and next time we come it will be completed and great for us to use....so, no problem!. We didnt like leaving!!!. Although Sanur can feel a bit like a tourist ghetto overall, the Griya is an island of calm and spaciousness. The hotel was a bit bigger than we generally prefer, but this did translate to more facilities, eg more than one pool and more dining options. The rooms were a little bit outdated. Nothing. The foyer is very slippery and requires another mat to stop people having a fall, especially when it is wet. All minor really but 1 of the 3 pools was closed due to renovations, breakfast buffet was limited in options. Spa facility not so good..In an outside..Open area...Plus staff not so experienced..Used Sister Hotel for Better Spa...Puri Santrian... Sea is shallow, not swimmable, perfect for little kids. Entrance to rooms have a decorative arch that is too low & my husband cut his head on it. Menu at restaurant was very limited and the 21 percent charge was rather high compared to others. There was no wifi in the rooms, once this is rectified it would be perfect. rooms need to up date tvs. The room that the staff put us into was next to a construction site and had 2 single beds. Finally, we were allocated Room 210 which was fine. The bathroom was a little small with the a shower in the bath for older patrons stepping in and out potentially very slippery. building renovations being done, but was well screened and relatively quiet. poor computer service for business needs. Pool only opens at 08h00. Wifi was very slow and only avaliable in the lobby or lounge area. The pillows. Too far to walk for facility's.My room was right at the rear away from beach,long walk to get even to get towels,and food.No breeze as buildings block it,so very hot at rear.Not suitable for elderly,but closer to the beach would be okay. Not a lot. Room 221 was a bit out dated. I paid for a newly refurbished garden room and was downgraded to an out of date and dirty "beach room"... Because they told me the room I had paid for was sold out. I was not offerred a refund. I"m not sure whey they call it a "beach" room since it was not near the beach, and had no beach view. The room wasnt good value for money. We signed up for $165 a night but once the taxes and surcharges were added it was more like $190 a night which was too much to pay for the hotel. The breakfast was also poor value. When the majority of your clients are westerners you provide them with a western style breakfast and not mei goreng. I was charged a lot more for my sacond night than the first' that didn't bother the staff when I questioned it. A lot of noise impossible to stay in room during the day. My daughter owns a Harvey World Travel, I will do my best to steer people away from this place. Pity such a nice place ,not good people. Dirty rooms , under construction so one pool was closed and not enough chairs at the main pool. Still paid full price for a hotel under renovations. Not being advised on building works. Lots if paperwork. The hotel was under renovation when we got there. This was not mentioned at all when we booked through letsbookhotel.com. It was a complete building site with noise starting at 9:00 going on till 17:00. We could not sit out on our balcony nor use one of the 3 pools and it completely spoilt our holiday. We asked to move but got no joy from the reception staff who really couldn’t be bothered at all once they’d got our full booking payment.
