The hotel is a hidden gem in Medan city. It is in the center of everything (great to start your trip in Sumatra), but when you are at the hotel you cannot feel you are in the city. The design takes care of that. And being located above the shopping center and on top floors only help to escape the noise of the city, so don't be discouraged. The outdoor pool is hidden on the top floor, but surrounded by the rest of the hotel facilities, adding a nice "resort-like" style to your morning swim.
all reviews » The breakfast was delicious and dinner was also really nice. The room was nice and clean and we loved the movie channel. Also, it was nice to see Medan from up there. Next to that, the swimming pool was lovely, however, I think it was not really normal for westerners to be there and just go and swim in western swimwear: bikini. The restaurant's food is good & I had my dinner & breakfast there. Room is clean & fair for the price paid. The hotel is located beside a shopping mall. It's convenient to buy sundry goods & shopping. Generally an excellent hotel and service. Good food, although a little pricy. All staff eager to help, courteous, friendly. I would stay again, despite the laundry charges, just wouldn't use this service. Staff were excellent Comfort of room and amenities great. We had a pool access room which was great however I failed to request a non smoking room and our room was smelly of cigarette smoke. The staff are very friendly. The hotel is located next to Palladium Mall and there is a hypermarket there so covenient to get your groceries. Near to the airport. The most of course the location, easy to reach any places to visit, convenience and forget not the food especially nasi goreng and spagh bolognaise..emmm yummy!!!. the Hotel's location is really strategic, the design and decoration are beautiful and I appreciate the hospitality and professionalism shown by the staff. Kids really loves the swimming pool so much.. decorations also good and breakfast at the restaurant also good as they served plenty of international foods. Very well organised and managed. NIL. The breakfast was a disappointment: poor selection; the dishes that were supposed to be warm or hot were cold... The fitness room is really small and the facilities are a bit older. Also the teacups in our room weren't too clean. This can really be overlooked though, because for that price it is impossible to find such a nice five star hotel in Europe. The laundry bill. I ordered a laundry service and supposedly got a dry clean service. Why dry clean T shirts and underwear??? As 1 had an early flight and leaving the hotel at 6am, No one to check me out. Staff had to be called. An early morning call I ordered did not happen. When I received my bill time was to short to check. Be wary of this service. My room was too far from the reception. Never experienced the bad thing during stay period... The housekeeping staff although polite, was a bit slow in responding to our request; and the breakfast menu, although delicious, does not have many varieties, considering the fact that Aryaduta is a five-star hotel. we have to bring our luggage ourself. Nothing. On most mornings, beginning around 6:30 am, there were young children shouting in the pool, which was outside my window and would wake me up. Also a minor complaint, but the elevators could take an exhorbitant amount of time to come. The room has no iron and iron board and the lighting not bright enough especially near the mirror. Nothing on hotel. One of the elevators was out of order, 4 days later when we checked out it was still not attended. Room 1117 had pool of water - 2 big patches in the wardrobe! Internet connection was poor due to location of the room - corner of the building. Can only access internet in the toilet! Spa was not available even though promotion flyers are all over. Room furniture a bit dated. Taxis from hotel (town taxis ). Gym facilities a bit out-dated. nothing. Interior of rooms might need a refresh. Breakfast choices limited if taken late. Not refilled after 9 am. Didn't have much going on around it. the breakfast need to improve more. Breakfast was not good in term of food variant compared what we ever stayed in similar class of hotels. It could be due to fasting month but hotel should have the exception considering the class. I can't think of anything. None. The room is too small and small single bed. The drainage hole on the shower was not draining water. Long waiting times for the 2 lifts, one of which broke down during our stay. Stains on the pillows and on the towels. Stained seats in the breakfast room. There were a few rust stains in the bathroom along with broken or rotting wood around the doors. It felt more like an average 3 star hotel than a 5 star hotel. Not allowed to have breakfast by the pool... we were told those tables were for coffee and snacks in the afternoon. The hotel looks rather worn already, but then again you do not expect much from Medan. Freezing cold aircon that for some reason could not be set for a higher temperature. Quite dusty. - one of the room we had was very dusty. - Internet facility is not fast enough. - Service in restaurant is not up to 5-star hotel standard. Restauarant has degraded in the past 3 years and never had open room fro non-smokers at dinner. The air conditioner did not work well. It was very hot in the evening and especially in the morning. The water quality is very poor. The water was light brown every morning. The hotel staff was not able to provide satisfied solution for the problem. Cost and cleanliness. The air con really need to improve as the room sooo warm because of the air con made the room not so comfortable. The swimming pool cannot use the kids were very disappointed ! Do not think that it worth the money. Car rental rather expensive. not so clean, balcony very dirty quite old and need renovation. Bad Service - Need to look for waiter/waitress for coffee in the morning and not happy servicing. Remove Room Service menu without inform. Order noodles soup, after 20 mins informed kitchen close, change to burger but delivery was sandwich. Im a mom with 3 kids and the hotel not give me connecting room that i request before when booking rooms. The worst is when during breakfast they clean some area without notice board wet floor, i felt on it and kids almost felt too, really2 not recommend! Not like 5 stars hotel. Lousy hotel and old.
