Desk man had excellent English, good humoured as all the staff were. He helped us out of a tight spot even when he was NOT getting a commission. Good food, 24 hours room service, We met and chatted with educated Indians who also were staying here. there was always a cycle rickshaw waiting outside to take us to the ghats.It was a no hassle place to stay without being a prisoner in a western tourist hotel. There was western health clinic across the street. PS Even the guard at the gate was cool.

The hotel gardens are beautiful and peaceful. It was a home like experience because of friendly staff. The room was neat and clean with free Wifi access. The bathroom was decent. This Hotel is a value for money. The complimentary breakfast served was decent enough. Hotel Varuna is a very nice hotel. It is a perfectly located, not too far from the ghats, and near the commercial areas of Varanasi. The hotel has a good staff and looked to be very well managed. The food was surprisingly very good. I had a conference in Varanasi and my room was very comfortable to relax in after a hard days work. The Hotel is very well maintained. It is neat and clean and has a good ambience. The room that i stayed in was very nice. The Internet speed of the Free WiFi was very fast. I also liked the food they served. The staff were great, even though they had to contend with power blackout constantly. They tried to make us comfortable. There was a generator that kicked in very quickly when the power went out. A little annoying but very typical while traveling in India. I always ask where the breaker is for my room because you can use up a lot of your time calling the front desk to reset it. no. Hygiene & cleanliness is pathetic. Best avoided!! Staff misbehaved, Room was not clean, TV did not work, washroom leaked. Made to wait for 3.5 hrs before room was given. Booked an AC room. Was given a non AC room. Room service is pathetic. Worst hotel ever!.
