We had a lovely stay here for 4 days and 5 nights. The location allowed us to walk to the Prince of Wales Museum, the Gateway to India and boats to Elephant Island, Victoria Station, Crawford Market, the High Court and the Univ of Mumbai. Our room in the Annex was large and very comfortable and when something like the electrical plugs were not working the staff was super efficient and pleasant in getting it repaired. Which leads to the most enjoyable aspect of our stay and that was the staff.
all reviews » I am a regular traveller since 1992 I have stayed in most hotels in Mumbai from 5 Star to 3 star. This hotel is situated in an excellent venue. The rooms are bit small but don't grumble it is still an excellent value for money. Though I book thru letsbookhotel.com I was not offered breakfeast but when I arrived in the hotel I made sure that before I sign up for the room, I asked Roshan at the counter that I needed to see the room. Myself and my wife were offered FREE Breakfeast for 9 days. The . The Residenct Hotel was super moon and clean in a fantastic location for your stay in Mumbai. We could walk to all the sight seeing areas and sights. The very modern, clean room was super comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was great with lots of choices and eggs made to order each morning. We also really enjoyed the brown bread for toast...after eating white bread all over India it was a nice treat! The staff were very helpful and friendly. They helped us to plan our activities and . I was most of all impressed by the staff - everybody treated us as we were very special quests, explained about the directions, brought us pineapple in our room after we just asked where to buy it, were smiling; staff in the restaurant was all excellent and always joking, tried to satisfy our wished despite we arrived late and breakfast was practically finished. In fact, after staying in other hotels in Delhi, Agra, Jaipur and Goa, I can frankly tell that welcome was the best in Residency Hotel. Very happy with our stay here. Although rooms are small (most are not too much bigger than the bed), the hotel has an upscale atmosphere with marble/granite walls and floors everywhere, leather accents, lots of mirrors to create the impression of more space, etc.. Breakfast area is particularly nice, with large windows looking out on the street, and planting on the sidewalk to provide some privacy and greenness. Location is great, just a few blocks south of the Victoria terminal and within walk. The hotel has perfect location - on the one of the main representative street of the city - 10/15 min. walk from the Gate of India, 5 min, walk from Victoria Station. The hotel restaurant is nice - both its location, staff and food. The hotel staff is extremely polite, helpfull and know the way of conducting hotel services. We needed to extend our stay (we had flight in the middle of the night) and it was possible till evening for the half of room price. The hotel has been redecorated recently . First night in new building was clostrophobic. Nicely designed room but window giving on indoor stairs. No daylight coming in. Moved to main building for the following nights. Very nice! It changed totally my perception. Very clean and nicely designed rooms. Nice and clean bathroom w. excellent shower. Hotel is very well located to visit South of Mumbai. When we arrived very early in the morning, the receptionist told us that there was already a room ready for check in to sleep. We took the room but it was very small and the sheets were not clean. We had to use our own pillow cases. When we told that, they immediately changed our room. This time room was more spacious and cleaner. The location of the hotel is very good for sight-seeing. you can see almost all the highlights on foot. We stayed in this hotel 3 days on different days.They stored o. This hotel has a great location and is easily accessible by walking to all the major downtown attractions of Mumbai. Also easy walk to both major downtown railway stations. Staff were friendly and quickly sorted an initial issue with the Wifi(which costs) and the AC. Breakfast was good and definitely try the foot massage machine in the lounge after a day trudging the pavements of Mumbai!. A good find! The new part of the hotel is adjacent and is a converted building. It's been refurbished to a good standard with 'trendy' electric buttons for room service etc. Breakfast was basic buffet with any eggs to order, but hygienic; which is a must in Mumbai. Staff were very helpful from the instant we arrived in the early hours. Western standard with an indian twist. Recommended. Staff was very friendly, breakfast was ok and the cappuccino was made on order, with freshly grinded coffee, nice variety of fresh fruit. The staf gave also good information on planning for sightseeing. The staf really made me feel home in Mumbai. Surely going to recommend this hotel to my family and friends. There are a lot of nice little touches in this hotel--electronic light switches that tell you what they control, a DVD player, satellite TV and a remote control for operating the A/C. But there were always taxis waiting outside the front doors, although we found that it was easy to walk to the places we wanted to go to. There was not a restaurant at the hotel except for a breakfast area, but there was room service and we did have Pizza Hut deliver which was easy and very cheap...we found it delicious as well!. I did not appreciate too noisy air conditioning and small size of room. Although the room are small, for the price and the location, you can't expect more. Despite working A/C, the humidity in the room was really problematic - all our clothes were stinking. Some elements of the interior need redecoration, however the room was generally clean. The new building without daylight. Bad wifi reception from the rooms, very good in lobby. It is a recently renovated hotel. bathrooms and all are good but the management (maintenance&repair, housekeeping) is not so good. The night lamps, TV and other appliances need regular checking. Breakfast is just OK. We twice (succesivee nights) had to request the night porter to tone down his bonding session with buddies in the echo chamber lobby leading to our room. As the new wing is a refurbished building. It is back to back with older adjoining premises. This means there is no privacy in the rooms if you have the curtains open. Blatant 'peeping toms' were a problem to us. Meaning we lived in false light when in the rooms. Nothing wrong here. Breakfast was included and it was okay (fresh omelettes, toast, cereals) but nothing special. Rooms were compact size as space in Mumbai is limited. This was not a problem it just meant that you have to be tidy in your room and not have your clothes and stuff everywhere on the floor. Newly painted, so the smell was still strong. Rooms a bit on the small side but comfortable. Nothing major to mention except that when we entered the rooms the pilllow covers were not clean but at the same moment i asked the housekeeping to change it and they did immediatley. Nothing to dislike. Tattooed tourists stay here and surrounding area not hygienic. Internet service kept fading in and out. Not a full service hotel, low frills. Smaller rooms. All in all, the pros far outweigh the cons. The hotel charge for wifi use. The charges for the internet (300R per day), it was ok, but they could offer it for free ;o). Noisy neighbourhood. There was no toothbrush and no toothpaste ("We can buy it for you."). No shaving kit. You need to unplug the fan that cools refrigerator in order to use electric kettle. Some noise from the main street in our room, but we can`t have it all. It`s a old building so, in some rooms theres a huge probability of earing cars and horns. Small rooms, cigarrete smelling rooms, shower and water drain with problems. Charging the first night in your credit card before customer arrival. Not having a window in the room. No 3rd bed provided as per booking, only a mattress provided after asking for it for 2 nights!! Lobby side table badly chipped. Chair in our room the back was broken (room 410). Internet was strong in the foyer, but weak once u closed the room door. nothing to complain. Room size very cramped, tho i chose the Club Room. Poor internet/fone connectivity, had change a room because of this. Slippers/Bathing Gown not provided and very cramped wardrobe space. Cleanliness could be better Toiletries incomplete Breakfast selection is below expectation. Once we had checked out we kept our bags in a holding room until we left later that evening, My fellow traveller noticed when we were leaving her lock on her bag looked like it had been tampered with, I said it wouldnt of been so we left, when we reached our next destination we found a bag of fashion jewellry had been stolen, such a shame as on this basis I would never stay there again. Availability of Wifi was confusing. The size of the deluxe room is ok, however the bathrooms are way too small and uncomfortable.. Maybe I made a wrong decision by not having chosen the club room, however, the design couldhave been a bit smarter- for example, considering the super small sized bathroom, it's door could open on the outside instead of the inside which blocked entry as it couldn't open completely due to the WC blocking the opening. Also, the bathroom door is super heavy to hold. no real negatives at all room a bit small but really fine. Room was very compact we booked a super deluxe club room i expected the club room to be quite spacious but it was very small. Pricey for India.
