I have stayed at a few of the older top hotels in Kolkata and found their facilities limited and pretentious and staff continually begging for tips. The Sonnet was wonderfully different, the staff were fantastically helpful, the rooms immaculate and the cost fair. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. However, be aware that the trip from Salt Lake to the city is quite a way (but not expensive if you have the right cab).
