We upgraded to an executive room and it was lovely. Absolutely the best hotel bed I have ever slept in. We had a magnificent view over the Danube and the breakfast and evening facilities in the executive lounge were second to none. all reviews » This hotel provides good service at decent prices. We booked two executive rooms, which while relatively compact, provided all we needed. We arrived early, before our rooms were ready, but with our (discounted) exec rooms we spent some time on the excellent executive terrace & lounge, with free drinks and a great view of the river. This ia more of a big business hotel of course, but for us it was a usefull one-night stop on our Road Trip. Breakfast (also in the exec lounge) was quite good. . the location of the hotel is the best choise ever. Had a superb view from the room facing the imperial palace and the bridges. Staff very professional. Restaurant well situated and has all those special plates to be tasted in Hungary. Reception desk very helpful and kind. Looking forward to stay there as soon as possible. The hotel's location is its prime strength. The views from each room and of course the exec lounge are unparalleled. There was just one very minor thing and I will probably sound petty but I didn't like the mug and the plastic sticks to stir your coffee in the room, they were not in keeping with the rest of the facilities. Please give me a proper cup, saucer and spoon it is far nicer than a mug and plastic stick. The executive rooms that we stayed in were relatively compact - but that's not unusual for a city centre hotel like this. The executive lounge, as comfortable as it was and with its veranda overlooking the Danube and old Buda, was a bit of a let down, specifically because of its limited choice of evening nibbles and the limited amount of time they were available. With that said, the women in the lounge were friendly and helped secure dinner reservations for us. Nothing. Outside temps were39/40C. Air conditioner was set at 28c. Wow!. The bed in our room was disgusting, having been urinated on by a previous guest. No problems changing rooms however I felt the staff were indifferent about the whole situation. This hotel, like the other chain hotels along the riverfront, are a hub for older guests prior to commencing river cruises and I got the feeling my experience was not unusual. I was surprised that Marriott has their brand name on such a facility! The hotel needs major maintenance, AC did not work in our room while temperature was 32 C outside! They kept on promising us to fix it for four days but they did not. Breakfast staff was not trained properly for a five star hotel. The service was slow, unfriendly attitude and a huge language barrier for an English speaker. Simply, It is not worth the money or the rating of five stars. bed not comfortable bath room very tight also not comfortable old furniture I didn't like it. old fashioned hotel need to be renovated and staff needs urgently to educate how to behaviour to the 4 star clients.
