It is actually situated right below and surrounded by the towering pillars of Meteora. Simply amazing. My wife and I got the nicest room available located on the back side of the hotel which over looks the mountains. Our other 3 friends stayed in the triple room in the front which had a small porch that over looked all of Kastraki. The rooms were very charming as well as the hotel. Kastraki is a small village at the foot of the mountains and Hotel Kastraki is at the beginning of the road that leads to them. For those who are energetic you could probably walk to most of the monasteries from the hotel. The rooms were airy, clean, air-conditioned and we also had a fridge in one of the rooms. The hotel is nice and clean, no frills, some of us found the beds too hard, the location close to the rocks is spectacular and the hotel staff was extremely helpful and friendly (well above any other standards we experienced in Greece). The hotel is located at the very edge of town so without a car it is about 15 minutes walk to the centre of Kalambaka.
