The newly renovated hotel is wonderful. You cannot be the location, pretty much everything is within walking distance or the metro is right behind the hotel. The view from the rooftop bar/restaurant is amazing...Akropolis one way and the Temple of Zeus the other. One of the best inclusive breakfasts I've had in Europe. The hotel is wonderful on every point. Access to interesting locations, accomodating staff and a great complimentary breakfast on the eighth floor roof top was the best. The Athens Gate is within blocks of the Acopolis, Plaka and across the street from Hadrian's Gate. A perfect choice.

Athens Gate is 100 times better, the comfort of the beds and the ammenties are so much better. View from room and roof are the best i have seen in Athens. Very central with a wonderful view from the bedroom and and even better view from the roof garden where breakfast is served. Modern clean room. The hotel upgraded us on arrival.Staff very helpful. Metro station very near.Fantastic location- very clean and nicely decorated rooms. The staff were very friendly. Really enjoyed the rooftop for cocktails in the evening and breakfast in the morning. But you have to have a room on the acropolis site of the hotel because the front of the hotel lies on a very busy noisy street!!!!. We stayed in Room 706B the view of the Acropolis was breath taking. The staff was great. The rooms were clean and well appointed. Amazing views to the historical sites. Close to Plaka and shopping boutiques. Staff very kind and helpful towards using internet and printing documents. The restuarant is a little overpriced. The front facing rooms are a bit noisy from road traffic, didn't annoy us - even with a child but i suppose some guests might be annoyed, if you don't want noise ask for a back facing room. (i think they have balconys too). Everything was great. Some of the reviews had said it was a bit of a noicey location but I just thought Athens would have been noicey anywhere you stayed. Highly recommend this hotel. Music in the lobby - tiresome when you wanted to relax. In the fifth floor where I satyed there was no cable free Wi Fi so I had to go down to lobby to be able to work. If you are on the street side there is a bit of noise as it is on a major road. The hotel has done well at sound proofing though.It was too early in the season for the air con to be working and too noisy to have the window open. Room had odour but they worked on it right away when we complained. Too noisy because of the traffic in the front street. elevators are few and cramped. tiny lifts. wi-fi charge was crazy... it should be included free of charge.The air conditioning system in the room did not work perfectly. our bathroom had a funny smell, not sure what it was. Room facing the street can be quite noisy. Definetly not. Service and our room were more than excellent.Just the shower, the glass shield doesnt prevent the water wetting the bathroom floor and lifts should be nenewed. The only down side is if you are going to drive to the hotel, the front door is on a busy street which makes it difficult to get your luggage into the hotel.
