We went on a 10 day road trip and stayed at 8 different hotels. This was
by far the very best hotel we stayed in! The staff was very friendly,
the room was spacious including the bathroom; and included a sitting
area, desk, refrigerator, a safe, a closet, Television, and an ac
uniti!!! Parking was easily found right in front of the hotel, and free!

Location in a calm area. Takes one bus (10 min) plus one subway (15 min) to reach the city centre/harbour area). Very friendly stuff, good breakfast.
Ease of getting around and into the city centre. Quiet even though on a major road. Great breakfast choices.

The breakfast cost seemed too steep for me so we had gas station food
for breakfast. ;) other than that it was absolutely fabulous! And would
stay there again in a heartbeat!.
The tired feel of the fabrics in the hotel: carpet in bedroom stained and very used. The banquettes in the breakfast room were worn, torn and darned. The liquid soap dispenser was so high up on the wall you couldn't use it when in the bath. Most odd!.
You could mistake the fire alarm button for a light switch.
Rather small breakfast room.
It it is a lodge rather than a hotel, so grading it as a 4 star hotel is un fair.
Breakfast is not encluded.
Wifi is not available over all the hotel.
Internet was not available for 3rd floor, for 5 days as I stayed. All
the time answer from receptionist was "tomorrow will be
fixed" :((.

Arriving by car from the south via the A7 motorway:
- Travel through the Elbe tunnel towards Flensburg, and exit at Schnelsen/Niendorf
- Turn left towards the city centre (Zentrum)
- Travel for approx. 2.5 km along the main road (Friedrich-Ebert-Str. + Kollaustr.) and turn left by the AUTO-UNGER building to enter Papenreye
- At the end of the road turn right into Borsteler Chaussee
- You will find the hotel on the left-hand side
