We chose the Richaud as it was within walking distance of the Palace of Versailles and had parking. The car park is quite small so I can imagine there woukd not be enough space in high season but we were able to park ok. The room was comfortable and the breakfast was good with very fresh bread and croissants and freshly boiled eggs on offer. The hotel is just around the corner from the markets where there are many restaurants and it took around 15 minutes to walk to the Palace.
all reviews » Good location to the Square which holds the local markets and all the restaurants. Both train stations are within walking distance. The Palace is just a few minutes walk through the Square along the beautiful tree lined mall approach. The Staff are very friendly, warm welcoming and most helpful with all questions, how to get to places, trains etc nothing is too much trouble. Clean with a lovely atmosphere. Would stay again. The location was excellent for us, very close to Notre Dame Markets and good restaurants as well as being a short walk (about 1 km) to Versailles Chateau. Versailles is a lovely town and by far the best place to stay if you are going to the Chateau. Liked the free parking, about 10 spaces available. The daytime male receptionist was extremely helpful at all times. It is extremely good value. Front office staff at arrival could not have been more helpful. Parking was no problem for us but we did arrive at about 1pm and soon after it was full. there is only room for 9 cars. Room was small, but functional. Position is what it is all about! 10 mins to the palace entrance, 10 mins to the railway station to go to Paris. Breakfast was great and nice to have hot boiled eggs. The rooms were clean and confortable and a reasonable size. The hotel was a short taxi ride from the train station but in a central position.It was definitely too far to walk with heavy bags. We walked easily to the Palace from the hotel. We were their when the hottest July weather occurred and as there was no air conditioning the rooms were very warm.Breakfast was good. Amazing value for money - great location in the centre of Versailles, near train stations and several restaurants; very quiet although so close to all the action; free courtyard parking (we would have happily paid for this!); comfy room; bar service - and all at an extremely reasonable price. Loved this hotel!. Hotel Richaud is excellent value-for-money. For a two-star hotel in the Paris region, my room was of a reasonable size and well-equipped. The continental breakfast was enjoyable and also good value. Hotel Richaud is convenient for three Versailles railway stations and for the Château. We liked the lounge area near the car park. The receptionist was very helpful. We like the area around the market where there are many restaurants with hundreds of people eating outside, mainly the young. Great atmosphere. Find another hotel in Paris for a hundred bucks. 15 minute walk to Gare rer--25 mins to heart of Paris for 10 bucks round trip. This charming hotel was nice and clean; the staff were incredibly sweet and helpful; the breakfast was always fresh and delicious, just enough to get your day started; the room was comfortable and clean; it was close enough to be able to walk to the chateau and do local shopping; convenient to the RER stations. We stayed 2 nights on our way home from the Dordogne. We visited the palace at Versailles and also enjoyed a short train ride to the Eiffel Tower where we went on a dinner/cruise on the Seine. Wifi was excellent and free. Location very good just 5 minutes walk from the palace and many great bars and restaurants just round the corner. Being close to the attractions and metro great place in back to secure our vehicle with the roof rack. the hot water was always there and the bathroom although rather elderly was very user friendly. Location near Versailles Palace, not so far to the train station. Good to stay there. There was only one electric socket in the room which was near the floor by the door. When we plugged in the phone charger we couldn't open the door. The area around the back of the loo and shower looked very grubby. Decoration a little tired/dated. No tea/coffee or drinks in the rooms. However this did not spoil our stay. Strangely, the power points for charging computers or other devices were not very accessible (right by the door, or unplugging the TV). Possibly a bit tired, but the bathroom is fairly new. Hotel needs a refurbish and the wall are thin, you could hear people going to the toilet!. The bathroom could have been slightly cleaner, but this is only a minor point!. No air conditioning, it was a very hot night. Car Park small and on street parking always full in the road by hotel. Walls very thin, I could hear the words of the conversations in the adjoining rooms. Very clean but bathroom grout & seals could do with replacing. Rooms are tight for space but served the purpose for 1 night stay. No coffee & tea facilities in the room. Internet rarely effective in the room although fine in the public areas. I can't really think of anything in particular. All our needs were met. Thin walls. Expensive breakfast for what you got. The least amount of food and difficult way to get food compared to other breakfasts at hotels where we had stayed. Carpeting could be replaced or changed to a more durable surface. Walls to rooms not very soundproof Shower although good & hot there was quite a step down from shower cubicle to floor and care had to be taken. Small shower & breakfast room temperature a little warm. Shower cubicle rather grubby looking, tho' it may have been clean but corners/edges were discoloured. Wifi didn't work in bedroom. A bit smelly. Finding it wasn't easy and the Wi-Fi connection wasn't good. Difficult and expensive to park unless you are lucky to get one of the hotels 9 parking places. nothing. Parking not bookable, breakfast only OK. Small rooms. Noisy plumbing. The Walls were to thin, lack of space. Night attendant was not helpful with directions on parking. Could not speak English. Hotel should have written instructions as to parking. We had a hell of a time. No drinking hot water device. Rooms getting a bit tired. Watch that first step out of the shower--wear your parachute. Are they small? Well I had to un-plug my computer in order to open the door. Still the helpful staff, free parking and comparatively low rate make up for a lot. When I was there for a 3 night stay in July it was 95 dreadful degrees! This hotel has no air conditioning or ceiling fan, and as an American I think we just take that for granted. There was no hope of a cross breeze as the air was dead still. The staff was so accommodating with ice, but I do wish they had at least offered a fan for air movement to this sweaty, wilted traveler. The hotel is a little outdated and the bathrooms especially should be updated. Decor is very dated and shower cubicle quite small for a big chap like me. No microwave or fridge, bath was in poor condition window would stay open. the staff - the window that you could not keep open in very hot weather - the fact that they said free parking but obviously as you could not say that you would be there it was not available.
