This B&B completely blew us away! (For non-US readers that means we were very impressed by it!) When we arrived we pressed the "talk" button on the intercom box attached to the wall that surrounds the Manoir and announced ourselves. A motorized gate swung open for us to drive into the courtyard whereupon our hostess greeted us and took us up to our astonishing room. After settling in we were offered the option of eating supper at the Manoir which was pricey but sounded good. It was outst.
all reviews » Excellent hotel. Rooms are all amazing and very luxurious. Monique and Eric very welcoming and friendly (don't speak English, but luckily 2 of our party were able to speak some French). Monique provided an amazing spread for us in the evening at a cost of 40 euros per person including as much wine as we could drink!! Fabulous swimming pool, although we didn't use it as we were only staying over one night. I can't recommend this hotel enough!!. The rooms were very large and the bathroom had very modern fixtures. The owners speak very little english but were very friendly as we both tried to communicate. The breakfast in the morning was large. It included eggs, croissants. meat, fruit, bread and cheese. We stayed one night and did not have time to explore the tiny hamlet of Venoy. It it just outside of Auxerre and very quiet. We had a wonderful stay. Amazing place, was great to drive down from Paris to arrive at a beautiful place and be met by the owner who is very friendly and welcoming. We highly recommend the home cooked meal, it was sensational and well worth the money. Rooms are lovely and clean, beautifully decorated and plenty of room. Great size bathroom. Lovely pool area with a spa to unwind in, We will definately be back!. The welcome was delightful and the hosts Monica and Eric made every effort to make us comfortable despite our language gap. The room included a jacuzzi bath very welcome after a long journey. We ate an amazing evening meal with our hosts cooked by Eric (a professional chef in his previous life) Breakfast was also a splendid affair We have nothing but praise for this lovely place. We stayed overnight on our way from Germany to England. We picked it for its nearness to the Autoroute, secure parking and availability of dinner. We weren't disappointed - it was like staying with friends! The swimming pool was a bonus as was our huge jacuzzi in our room. Food and wine were excellent and Eric and Monique work very hard to make your stay enjoyable. The owners were very warm and welcoming. The hotel is a chamber d-hote with five rooms and the building was a completely restored manor home (the owners did it over 7 years. Rooms were very large and comfortable and the area is gorgeous. They are very close to the AutoRoute and we had an altogether enjoyable experience. We have stopped off many times as we cross France using letsbookhotel.com, often at BnB's. Le Manoir des Chappelle is definitely in the top 2 or 3: Great welcome from Moniqe & Eric, good quality spacious room, table d'hote dinner served by Monique, swimming pool and a heartly breakfast to set you on your way. The room was lovely and big and the bath with jets was amazing. We had dinner which far exceeded any cuisine we've had in a restaurant and is very reasonably priced. The coconut macaroons, prepared by the host were out of this world. Excellent place and definately worth a visit. We had a very friendly welcome from Monique and Eric, after a long drive from the Alps. A lovely room with a jacuzzi bath and a fantastic meal with the other French guests, preceded by aperitifs downstairs in the amazing cellar. All in all, a great stay. really friendly, extremely accommodating, very clean & had a relaxed attitude. Beautiful place and the pool/spa was open all day and night to our delight. Breakfast was delicious and had a very varied choice.. they bought out EVERYTHING. THe owner was charming and helpful. She cooked us a fabulous dinner, with hors oeuvres and the wine flowed freely. Breadfast was excellent and the jacuzzi, great for relaxing after a long drive. 5 minutes to Auxois. Our hosts Eric and Monique could not have done more to make us welcome. A unique find the rooms were very tastefully furnished, lovely pool, just off the A6. Pillows weren't the softest, and it was a little hard maneuvering the car out of the walled courtyard. But these are super minor complaints -- this was one of the best places we have stayed in ever!. It was a little warm that day and the room had no air conditioning. Our room was at the back and if you opened the window you could hear the autoroute but there are rooms at the front which would be quiet. only minor gripes, which are common to virtually every place we have stayed: 1) the WiFi doesn't work in the bedrooms; 2) the filter coffee at breakfast... 3) tea/coffee in the room. Nothing. dogs barked a bit in the morning but it i'm not sure if that was theirs or the neighbours as the dogs never barked when i saw them. Would be difficult to find without a gps. Nearby town of Auxerre undergoing a lot of restoration work, particularly along the river bank. Do not speak much English but very friendly and we managed together with our very limited French. The rooms were reasonably priced the evening meal at 50 euros was expensive but worth it, would have liked to have knows in advance what I was paying. Nothing. Noisy highway. Nothing. nothing.
