very good value for money, close to the city centre - Nice colour scheme of room although the double room for 2 persons ismeant for 1 person. They just added in a bed which makes the room a bitcramped. The coffee cups were real tiny

Great location, a little different, the free wine tasting was excellent and the roof top dining and sitting out area a winner! The local chateau has a great Tintin exhibition which was great for convincing the kids to visit the chateau. -

Lovely pools which weren't too crowded.
The two young staff in reception, one English and one French, were excellent and helped us to book canoeing and other trips.The night security man was also very helpful.

Beautiful property and grounds. Fantastic pool, if a little chilly and the pool area is so relaxing with lots of sun loungers, tables and chairs and lovely pool bar. Chateau de Portail was a wonderful experience and Claude Herbert was an amazing host. It was nice to be welcomed so warmly into his home with nowhere out of bounds. The house is charming, warm, comfortable and elegant with a relaxed feel to it thanks to Claude Herbert's hospitality. As a family with two young girls (aged 3 and 5) this can sometimes be an annoyance to other guests and the host but we never felt like this.
