Nation Montmartre is a great little place located near the Barbès - Rochechouart metro stop, the Gare du Nord, Sacre Coeur and all the other attractions of Montmartre. They are in the process of remodeling, and the new rooms are comfortable and well-designed, some with private showers (otherwise toilets and showers are shared, pension-style). all reviews » I must say I do think some of the reviews of this hotel are somewhat unfair. For the price and location (very close to metro and Sacre Coeur) this place represents very good value for money. If you want luxury, then you must be prepared to pay for it (probably 2 or 3 times what you pay here). Although I had to share bathroom and toilet, they were cleaned regularly by the staff and I did not have any problems whatsoever. The continental breakfast is very good and recommend. It is reasonably . Room was very clean, staff very polite and english speaking, the cleaning lady was cleaning my room and making bed every day, two towels and one soap provided, showers are clean and renovated, location was ideal for my planned sightseeing, at the reception at check-in they give you very practical pocket size Paris map. Lets be blunt here, where else in paris will you get a clean double bed with fresh towels for between €50 and €75 a night? A fine place and the owner went out of his way to find a secure space for our bikes when he really didn't have the room for them. Can't recommend the place high enough. Breakfast was served untill 12 o'clock. Very good location 50 meters from the metro station and only 10 minutes from Sacre Coeur. The staff was also very friendly and it was possible to store our luggage at the reception untill our train left in the evening. I think the comments on this page are extremely exaggerated. I read them after I booked so I was pretty scared when I went to the hotel. But there was nothing to be scared of. The staff was friendly, the room and the sanitary was clean and the beds were comfortable. There are only two bathrooms, but I never had to wait to take a shower. Very clean and in good location, accessible to Metro, Montmarte and Sacre Couer all walking distance. Away from the bustle of high traffic tourist areas. Great "local community" feel. The location wasn't in the best part of town as there were many shady characters around the nearby metro stops so wouldn't reccommend for girls or single travellers. No elevator so the stairs can be exhausting if you are on a higher floor. Having to hand in the room key before leaving for the day was bit strange but it ensured you didn't loose it I guess. No power points in room (only in corridor) No ventilation. You can feel a little fug every time when return to your room. I guess in the middle of summer it could be worse. No shampoo (only soap). Might be better for younger Euro travelers. One block away could feel a bit dangerous at night. There were many stairs to our room. The toilet room had a hole in the wall, no window or vent. There were no Power points in rooms. Hot water took too lonmg to get to the third floor showers in the early morning. Complete absence of tv. Very noisy due to poor sound insulation and doors without any dampening mecanism. Toilet situation. The toilets on the stairs were funny :). no elevator. To climb. No lifts...toilets are cramped. we had to climb 5 floors, in absence of lifts rooms get opened by anyones keys...that's bit of a risk... The maid did not come every day to clean the room, rooms' soundproofing is terrible, the room is extremely small, no fridge, no shower and just one socket, extremely bad located, above the sink. Room a bit smelly, the door lock is aweful, they usually switch off the electricity if you will go out then my laptop shutdown , they do not clean the rooms everyday, no air-conditioning. Not sound proof. Very noisy. Noisy, dirty and in a less desirable area. Also extremely expensive for what it was. Staff where very rude. The hotel is in a bad location at night you can feel unsafe walking home furthermore you buzz to get in and nobody answers, we were left standing outside the hotel for 15mintues ringing the buzzer and trying to phone. Then the man at reception wouldn't book us a taxi so the next morning we were left standing out on the road trying to flag a taxi. Staff where really unwelcoming and unfriendly. 2 showers for entire hotel guest, toilets the size of a broom cupboard built into the stairwell and someone had urinated all over the floor - disgusting! 5 flights of steep stairs and no elevator. Poor facilities. The sheets weren't clean & no toilette or showers in the room. Noisy, woke up several times from slamming doors. Toilet and bathroom dirty and very uncomfortable. To use the sink in my room I had to bend over to not bump my head to this bar, mirrors too low. Only 1 electric socket in the double room and located in the bathroom mirror light??? No power point for use of electrical equipment - battery chargers. 1. the room is really dirty with bad smell. 2. No socket in this technology age. 3. no elevator for 6 floor building. 4. very dangerous around, I nearly be stolen by the thieves in the subway. I didn't like there staff behaves and it was not clean at all there fasility was so old and there was no toilet in the room so there was only one toilet for each flor !!. But this place haven't got a electronic concent. and didn't lock a window, When i changed cloth at 9:30am, suddenly light be turn off... and staff wasn't kind... If I go to Paris again, I won't go there. I found insects on the bed. Dirty and smelly rooms. Little bit noisy. Not the best neighborhood, especially by night. wifi only allows one connection the area is not nice. dangerous. almost everything. what a terrible place. the hotel is nothing like the pic. It is near the subway but its actually quite unsafe, noisy and uncomfortable. the door and the window cannot be locked. And the only power plug in the room is in the toilet. you can hear the noise all night long. Everytime when you go out, you should give the key to the manager. the furniture is old and simple. All in All, it is really terrible. I wont choose it any more. Everything. Almost everything! There are no electricity in the room! And there are BED BUGS in their room. It totally ruins my trip! The rooms are nothing like the pictures shown, very small, no TV, no chairs to sit.. nothing.. furthermore it is unsafe as there is no fire escape while the room was on the fourth floor.
