Fabulous place! The staff couldn't be better; and we had the pleasure of meeting the owner. He is in the process of doing the place up; and we had the privilege of staying in one of the newly decorated rooms. It was fresh and so clean; and seemed much bigger than the pictures on the web. The bathroom was fantastic; full bath with shower and tiled from top to bottom. The bed was extremely comfortable; and we are picky about our beds! all reviews » On my arrival the hotel owner/manager was very friendly & helpful. The location is excellent; between 2 major railway stations Gare Du Nord & Gare De L'Est, easy walk to magnificent Sacre Cœur, & funky Montmatre & close to Blvd Poissonnere (live theatre & shows). The Metro is very close too but I didn't use it as evrything I needed or wanted to do was nearby. Very friendly and helpful staff.Convenient location. The room showed some signs of wear, but was bigger than expected. It had comfortable twin beds. Sheets, towels and bathroom were very clean. Bar fridge was a surprise.Two big windows opened out over rue Faubourg-St Denis. Great value for money. Amazing location close to both gare de l'est and gare du nord, clean room with a tv and private shower, large shower by Parisian standards. FYI the train doesn't run at night so u can take a bus (n140 or n143) from gare de l'est, a 2 min walk from the hotel, gare du nord is about a 7 min walk. Close to Paris Nord and Paris Est stations, but once one "runs the gauntlet" through these stations, it is an easy [daytime] walk....the walk at night might seem a bit daunting. Very small room, but for one night, it met my needs. The staff is excellent, helpful and friendly, especially one of the receptionists. Bathroom was a bit small. The hotel is old and not very well maintained. The lift/elevator is old and very small. The first room I stayed in (room 31) was horrible, did not even have a wardrobe, and the toilet seat was broken. I complained and they did move me to a nicer room... The room got very hot at night. Pillow on the bed was very flat. Hotel was not maintained very well; facilities were minimal. There was no air-conditioning and we had to open the windows for cool air. We stayed on the second floor and there was a lot of noise from the pubs/restaurants below. Plumbing issues in the bathroom, water running down the wall, significant noise from other guest bathrooms. The place was noisy during the night. A bit hot! And the shower was leaking. The alarm call system did not work. Smell from the toilet.no air conditioning. Simple breakfast. Musty smell in room. one of the bedrooms where the grandchildren stayed, the shower was pretty grubby from being old. Our bathroom was new but shower pipe was broken and when I washed my feet in the bath I was covered in water. Had to hold to the whole shower head to have a shower and electric plug socket was off the wall. Rooms small, smelly, stuffy and damp. No toilet seat. Rough area. Parking 30euros per day when advertised at 12 euros. No tea/coffee making facilites. The lift was very small ! We stayed on 5th floor . The room was just Disgusting! There was dust everywhere! Very dirty. The walls had spots. There was no heating the room was cold! To emphasize that it is still December . The bathroom was appalling, dirty with hulled walls! The shower was broken, the curtain fell. No face cloth! I wish I can upload my pics from this hotel . Only french channels on the tv . Little refrigerator but no plug . Very unhappy waste of money !. Twin room was really a double. A cot came only with much insistence. We had to make up the cot. Bathroom curtain torn, paint peeling, holes in ceiling, tiles missing. Booked two nights but checked out after 1st night. -Room smelt of wet mould -no toilet seat at all -carpet well worn out. -power plug on wall half falling off. -Staff gave us two keys to pick our room and one had someone sleeping in it. So clearly they have a poor system. -Would not recommend this place to my worst enermy.
