Clean, comfortable, quiet, lovely decor, terrific staff, good value. the rooms are modern and are very comfortable. the room decoration. the room. All staff very friendly, proximity to metro, supermarkets, shops and major tourist attractions. I would definitely return, it felt like you were coming home at the end of the day. Minifridge was a great plus, nice to keep some food condiments at hand. Although room and elevator small, this is to be expected of a Parisian hotel.
all reviews » We enjoy staying at the Grand Hotel Dore. It is less expensive than most hotels in Paris, but is definitely worthy of its 3-star rating, a step up from less comfortable 2-star hotels. The rooms (typically small but up to Paris standard for this kind of hotel) are comfortable and well sound-proofed. The wireless internet worked well. The neighborhood is very pleasant, with a metro right there.The rooms is very clean. The staff is extremely courteous and helpfull. Eventhough this hotel is located a little bit on the outskirt of Paris, its proximity to a Metro station makes it easy to get into the center of Paris. Having a metro pass is a must. Au Metro Restaurant is just across the street with good wait staff and good food at reasonable price. Friendly staff, excellent location a half-block from the Metro with many stores in the area, internet access (but slow DSL), air conditioning was great during a very hot few days.Very close to Metro station (1 minute to walk). It is howver typical Parisian style and not a problem at all. Very small room and lift for a substantial price per room, but then again this is the market in Paris.Noisy plumbing. Not a criticism but an observation...the entrance passage to the room and the door were very narrow. Lucky we did not have large suitcases !. At payment moment I was asked for paying breakfast too even if I did not have it, so I had to ask for correction to bill.We used the same bed sheet during six days. Internet was free, but didn't work?. Even small hotels like this should have a cart to carry the luggage from the taxi to the lobby of the hotel. Room very small and basic - just about OK for a solo traveller. Free soft drinks for VIP room means only 2 drinks - not worth VIP room price difference. Day staff unfriendly (one very rude). Could not get Wifi to work.Very rude staff. Do not make a negative comment about anything - they will not accept that the hotel could possible be at fault.

The Promenade Plantée, 4.5 km-long elevated park in the 12th arrondissement of Paris, constructed on an abandoned 19th-century railway viaduct, which connected the Bastille area to the eastern suburbs of Paris.The parkway runs from the Opéra Bastille to the eastern city limits, ending up only a short distance from the Bois de Vincennes.

The arcades beneath the viaduct have been transformed into arts and crafts workshops. This section is called the "Viaduc des Arts".

Bastille:the square straddles 3 arrondissements of Paris, namely the 4th, 11th and 12th. The square and its surrounding areas are normally called simply Bastille. The July Column (Colonne de Juillet) which commemorates the events of the July Revolution (1830) stands at the centre of the square. Other notable features include the Bastille Opera, the Bastille subway station and a section of the Canal Saint Martin. The north-eastern area of Bastille is busy at night due to many cafés, bars, night clubs, and concert halls.
