This hotel is excellent value for money. We had a triple room that was very clean, quite big and good light from the two big windows. The windows were well insulated so there was virtually no noise from the street below. Brigette on the front desk was very friendly and gave us loads of info and assistance. Take the time to talk with her - she is a very interesting person. Contrary to some of the reviews we had read, the area is fine - in fact much better than expected. It is very close to the r.
all reviews » Very good location. Minutes from Gare Train Station. Minutes to the main street with shopping area. Staff was English-speaking, really trying to help with directions. Hotel does not take checks, but cash works just fine :) Very clean, towels changed every day, bed was made also very day (lest admit, it does not happen every time at hotels). You have to pay on arrival. Breakfast available, but for 6 euros per person. Proximity to train station, easy walking distance from old town and beach. Excellent fruit & veg market, bread, meats, all around the corner. Nearly a mile's walk to the lovely old town and pebble beach, which suited us fine, but this may be a tad far for older/less mobile tourists. Nice is a very interesting destination/base, but it is mighty busy; maybe take the (comfortable, cheap) train to Antibes or St Jean Cap Ferrat if you seek a quieter day. The location is very near the train station and not the best area in Nice, especially for a solo female traveler at night; but I knew this before arriving and planned not to be out too late in the evening. It's an old building and the walls are pretty thin, so you risk staying up late if your neighbors get too noisy. I could hear their toilet flushing etc.. but it all stopped around 12 anyways so it was ok! There's no internet in the rooms, just in the lobby. The area around is a little shabby. There was just one plug socket in my room. The doorway to the bathroom was small so people even with an average height should pay attention on not hitting their heads. Can be noisy, both stomping about hotel and sanitary noises, plus outside rowdiness.
