Location is right in the middle of the city but you can't drive to it. Parking was a nightmare to find on a Friday afternoon and was located a short distance up a hill from the hotel. We didn't mind too much as we filled a backpack for our overnight stay and left the larger suitcases in the car. The hotel itself was great. Good facilities. Would stay there again. The Palais de l'isle was a wonderful experience, from the helpful and very friendly staff to the immaculately clean room which was overlooking the canal where we could watch the street entertainers from the comfort of our room. If we were returning to Annecy it would definitely be to stay at this hotel.
all reviews » This hotel was excellent - the BEST location possible, only half a block back from the canal in the old centre. Restaurants, cafes and shops right out the front door. My room was great, with a small door / window that opened out over the rooftops. HIGHLY recommended!. This was a fabulous hotel in a picturesque town. We could not have asked for more on our honeymoon. The staff was very helpful and kind while we stayed there. The hotel is centrally located with wonderful views of the small town and surrounding mountains. Fabulous position in Annecy. Perfect for walking around all the old town and just a few steps to the lake. Lots of restaurants. I would definitely stay there again. Very friendly and helpful staff. Location is excellent, the room is small but nice and comfortable, the view from the window is onto the romantic lanes, the breakfast room is causy. Unable to drive up to hotel to deposit bags. Air con didn't work very well and too noisy outside to open windows as there was a pub below and it was a Friday night. Minor issues really. Nothing. The only problem I had with the hotel was that the shower was quite moldy. Also, you were not allowed to eat in your rooms which would have been nice at times. Nothing. Loved it all. Very small hallways, being an old hotel. It is however, remodeled with a modern bathroom. Room was extremely small. Small rooms. The lift was quite smelly (stale smoke we thought). Otherwise no complaints. The room we stayed in needs to be refreshed. The walls were dirty, for sure they need a fresh paint. At night the noise in the streets outside was terrible, I saw a fight outside my bedroom, lots of shouting and drunks, no police around. I was scared. My bedroom needed painting and the lift is very small.
