Bula fellow travellers, I stayed at Bamboo over Easter weekend 2013 and I loved it so much I came back after my travels around the islands. Bamboo is an A++ hostel and it is one of the best I have stayed in years of travels worldwide. It is clean, comfortable, extremely good value and the staff are fantastic with travel advice on where to go and anything else. There is free wi-fi, the 'kava' drink to try out most evenings and fire-shows and other activities. The location is great as it is near .
all reviews » the staff! they are all so much fun, really go the extra mile to help you out and make sure you have an incredible time. singing kava sessions every evening, it's a wonder that they can all sing and play guitar so well! location's perfect for the airport and a good jumping off point for onward travel to the rest of the country. bus stop is directly outside to head to town. the accommodation is basic, but the 12 bed dorm is really spacious and amazing value for money, and everything is kept real. I loved Bamboo the staff are fantastic and make you feel at home here.Entertainment at night on the beach with staff playing guitar and singing was excellent. The beach was great and my a.m. walks on the beach were magical .All about Bamboo was amazing .I am in luv with Fiji, thxs Bamboo and all my friends there, I will be back.Karen P. Bula~*. it was a home away from home, as soon as you arrive everyone is introducing themselves, taking your bags to your room for you and making sure your at home. didnt want to leave!!! food is AMAZING and rooms are ridiculously cheap. The atmosphere was great at Bamboo, compared to all the other backpacker hostels in the area it was the place to be.The staff were all friendly and remember your name which I never get even in 5 star hotels!. TOP place , directly at the beach , everybody very friendly , everyday asked if everything is OK , have seen lots of hostels, but this was definetly the most friendly one , top trips , FIJI TIME , BULA. The staff were friendly and helpful with organizing day trips. They made us sandwiches for a trip we thought included lunch so we wouldn't be hungry. It was a convenient stop over for the airport. It was amazing beyond words...loved the night entertainment..the staff were amazing and I have met wonderful people from all over the world as a backpacker..stay in bamboo trust me!. After leaving for a week and coming back all the staff and many of the guests recognized me.... It was like coming home =) definitely a great place to stay, can't wait to go back!. The staff really made an effort to have conversations with you and help you, answer questions or just shoot the breeze. A good place to enter into Fiji. Very cheap accommodation. Good fun in the evening. Mostly 18-22 year old backpackers. Close to the airport, staff was friendly enough. The food is excellent and you have Wifi. Food. Staff friendly and helpful. Free internet and transfer from airport. nothing! it was exactly what I was after. nothing!. The room wasn't the best and was a bit run down. To get hot water you would have to travel to another dorm. Plus there wasn't a place to make your own food (though they did provide excellent and cheap meals). Breakfast should be restated as bread and coffee/tea which would minimize complaints in reviews. Nothing. Well, maybe that there are mosquitos outside, but that's just Fiji!. Shared showers were needing a bit of tlc. Don't base yourself here for a beach holiday- instead use it as a stop off on the way to the airport or the other islands, as other beaches are much nicer. Very basic dorms, but when you see the rest of Fiji the accommodation is quiet good. Not easy to sleep at nights (because of different kind of noises) if that's what you need. Not enough power sockets in the dorm. They cleaned the bathroom after I checked in. Nothing. some small insects!!!. A bit far from downtown.at. Very basic accommodation. In SEA you would expect to pay around $15 for a private room with bathroom for the same standard but this was around $50 AU. This is the market in Fiji though. Same level of accommodation but a much higher price than SEA. Rooms were very tired in places. smelly room. Free internet at the Bamboo Café didn't really work. It was far from the city and the buses operated seldomly. In the night was a bit too cold, and some night there were noise until very late (3am). Food for vegetarian is noot very good. Bedbugs and quite run down the double bed room. It is miles away from anything, really only good if starting or ending your Fiji trip. The whole area is a magnet for mosquitos, perhaps a net on the bed would be helpful to stop the bites. Half hour wait on checkin, looks and feels a bit rundown, Smuggler's Cove seems nicer. The bedroom are poor, the bathroom are poor ... The staff is friendly but they always give us wrong information about bus... It was awful. Let's face it, it's not a hotel, not even a hostel. Just a lousy kind of guest house. My room was stinking like cat's toilet and after guests took a shower all water came to my room. Beach is not a real beach but just a dirty peace of shore. All facilities like shops and other are reachable only by car. Strictly if you're on a budget and for one night only!.
