We had a great stay at Hotel Vis! The staff really looked after us, the view was incredible and there was nothing to stop it being an awesome time. access to the water, good breakfasts, helpful staff, english spoken widely. The staff were excellent, helpful and very competent. The cleanness and the calmness (silence).Friendliness of the staff. localisation (calm and quiet), hotel near the beach, hotel staff very kind, bus transport just in front of the entrance of the hotel (10mn from the center!).

Part of this was common to Dubrovnik/Croatia as a whole because of the bad exchange rate against the pound, but I did think that the food could have been a lot better presented and prepared for the price. some receptionists are not kind. no fridge in room. evening meal buffet only and not hugely appetiising. No hot water. You had to pay for internet connection - most hotels now offer this facility free. 3 star hotel but 4 star prices.However, this is probably the same forall hotels in the area. Too many stairs, very difficult to handle the baby stroller. The snack bar for lunch was expensive and not good. the non superior rooms are small and subject to a lot of noise from the corridor , we moved rooms after one night. missing wifi. Internet access in the hall of the hotel only from the hotel's PC - it's very inconvenient.needs a lift. it does need updating but we did have a comfortable stay and may seemed to be a quiet month to stay there. we wouldn't stay there in the busy months. They only had 3-4 parking places in the hotel, and the bathroom was very poor, and the bed was not comfortable. The room and the facilities were dated and in need of some general refurbishment.Room described as 'sea view', should have been 'sea front'. View was of hotel terrace and trees. the hotel needs restoration, it looks old and obsolete; few parking lots; the personnel not so friendly and helpful. Poor maintenace, I.A. doors, lamps, toilet seat. Staff were not very friendly.The staff were very rude especially at reception when there was a problem with my card, they were not interested in trying to get the issue resolved they were just intent on making me feel like a criminal. After mealtimes, the staff would wheel round a dirty trolley with a slop bucket, rather than carrying the trays from the table. There should be notification that the deck chairs were not free. Expensive for 3 star, maybe 2 star??. facility, noise. Euro was not accepted. The room was quite basic (no mini-bar or security safe) and the buffet breakfast was disappointing. staff didn't help me. Although the bathroom looked clean - the shower had a lot of mildew on the inside and the shower outlet was slow so as the shower tray filed up. We reported this with reception on the first night and 2 days later the outlet was fixed but the mildew still remained. In the bathroom the walls and ceiling had traces of mold. The smell in the room was weird.

At the entrance to Dubrovnik just follow the directions to Lapad bay where you will find signposts to hotels of the Maestral group.

From the bus station to Pile you get by buses No. 1A, 1B, 2, 3, 6, 8 and 9. Once in Pile you can take a taxi or bus No. 4.
