We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hui Boutique Hotel. The hotel has such great character and beautiful details throughout. The beds were very soft and comfortable (this is a huge deal considering all the other beds we had slept in had been rock hard up to this point) and they even had heated mattress pads. The hotel was clean and comfortable. The owner, Ben, picked us up from and dropped us off at the airport.His english is excellent and he went out of his way to help make our stay enjoyabl.
all reviews » My wife and I loved the surroundings. It is a real feeling of being in an old Chinese home. And when you start looking at the details and asking your host, Ben, about how the hotel came to be, it is fascinating. You are within a few steps of Old Sreet, the Main Street for shopping and people watching. Ben, the owner and your host along with his wife , while you are at the hotel, is fantastic. He will tell you where to go and what to see, and if he is not busy, he will even drive you to places. . Great hotel in such a nice town! The staff was really helpful, even if English wasn't so good (apart from the man who spoke really good English), they helped me book the bus ticket to Hangzhou and the Western breakfast was not really expensive, and served by a sweet grandma trying to kill a big bumblebee frightening me :) Besides that, Tunxi Old Town is adorable. Highlight of my trip to China definitely!. Excellent, central and quiet, location. Wifi works but slower in the room than in the reception area. Good advice from Ben (when available). Upgraded the first night to the king room, quite large and with very nice furniture (but twice the price, apparently). The hotel was beautiful, felt very authentic (minus the renovated bathroom!) and had a lovely charm about it. The owners were delightful, and being located around the order from the Old Street Markets we highly recommend this place to anyone. A superb place, more like a home than a hotel. A wonderful melding of modern (AC, deluxe washrooms, comfortable beds, wifi) with authentic traditional architecture and character. I can't recommend it too highly. Thanks for a wonderful stay. Beautiful building, beautiful traditional style room with beautiful and modern bathroom, lovely helpful staff who spoke excellent English, fantastic location. Even the electric kettle was blue-and-white-porcelain! Great attention to detail!. The antique furniture and archtecture, the open courtyard garden, tucked away in an alley near great pedestrian shopping lane, the excellent and cheap chinese style breakfast, very homey, clean and exotic in a rustic way. Splendid reconstruction of old house. Beautiful decoration with local genuin antiques. Friendly and helpfull owner, who made this place with hid handsand imagination. You are staying in an historic building with up to date bathroom fixtures. But the walls are thin. Hey, it is a small inconvenience for the all the historic feeling you get. The room is a bit expensive to Chinese standards, but it is worth the price to go back in the Ancient China, with all the comfort. Much worth it!. Twin bedroom a bit small, leaving little space for luggage. They forgot to prepare the breakfast we had ordered the day before. Very limited English, were it not for Ben. The walls were thin, but it didn't affect our stay/restrict us from sleeping at all. Absolutely nothing. We'd have happily stayed longer if there was more to do in Tunxi itself. No fault go the hotel, though. Was hard to find initially, but glad that makes it more private. The room was cold and the bed hard but beds are hard in China. The lighting was very poor. new pillows needed. Toilet did clog and we could not get if fixed that day. None. Nothing.
