The location was excellent. In the middle of the Hutong. We stayed in a traditional room which was very spacious. We also rented bicycles at the hotel, which made it very easy to visit the sights in Beijing. From the airport we took the AIrport Express to Sanyuanqiao and then took a bicycle taxi, because we had read on letsbookhotel.com that cars could not enter the street of the hotel. The bicycle was a good idea. We were dropped almost in the hall of the hotel. Also we booked a Great Wall .
all reviews » Very nice hotel with traditional Chinese decor! The best place and part of the city to stay to get a feeling of Chinese culture. Everyone speaks English (thank god)! In a very nice touristy area in the oldest hutong of beijing "Ju er" (next to the busiest and must see Hutong Nanluoguxiang) need to take bus to nearest metro station. Very near (walking distance) drum and bell towers. Many places to eat (restaurants and fast food take away). Can also walk to Lama Temple and Confucius Temple (one b. The hotel has good location in Hutong and the walking distance to subway (10 min.). The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was nice and everything worked. We have stayed for 5 nights and we got new towels, slippers and bottled water every day. Excellent Location ,hotel ,staff ,breakfast , transportation , u can take bus (rmb1)or subway (rmb2)to all place u want to go , Gd value . The room we booked was awesome. The view from the window is amazing! It's close to Nan luo gu xiang hutong! Not really far from Subway!. Extremely helpful staff (one young man in particular), sensational location - unbeatable!. Located conviniently in HuTong area of old Beijing, even recent years it is getting very commercial, but still you can wonder around freely in the old Hutong see the people living there. Everything Super. Just some suggestions! Be aware of taxi drivers they will always try to charge you 4 times the actual fare! Always get a taxi with a meter! Almost from any part of the city you should pay a maximum of 25-30 Yuan Renminbi). For night Life and upperscale facilities I would stay in the Soho "Saniltun" Area. And the other great area to stay would be south from Tiananmen Square near Qianmen or Wangfujing. The carpet was not vacuumed and the floor in the bathroom was not the cleanest one. Toilet smelly. We booked the room online, when we arrived at the hotel, first we were given a different room, which was much cheaper and located on the first floor, behind the window there was construction. Then we talked to the reception, and they changed the room! I mean like, guys, why are you trying to cheat?. Very smelly drains, no padding between us and the bed springs, doors with glass windows that let the corridor lighting in all night. TV programs only in Chineese language. The hotel has a sign saying it serves dinner and it does not. Also the toilet paper was awful and there was not enough of it. I got over charged. everyone has to put up collateral money, even after booking with bookings.com, also the price is always slightly higher than the receipt from letsbookhotel.com, they add like 20 to 30 yuan service fee. breakfast could be more varied. There was work during the day, from 10-6, quiet loud, I had to complain a couple of times, since it felt like the walls are falling apart, I hope this is not something regular.... one of the rooms we had there was no window, so the room was very stuffy, without airconditioning, it would have been impossible.... Hotel location is at a small street that Taxi did not want to enter so you have to walk at least 400m from the main street, not a pleasant walk when you just arrive/check-in not knowing exactly where the hotel and especially with many luggage. The first time you might have difficulties in finding the hotel, especially if you don't speak Chinese. But once you know how to get there, it is quite easy and close to the subway (10 min. walk). Quiet difficult to find it first time. noisy guests and all night commotion in the corridor. Paper thin walls making you hear you neighbour snoring. Construction works and dirt currently around the hotel entrance...but that is natural for construction works, only you come once to a hotel...and thus, this was my didn t like. Poorly cleaned room - Floor not vacuumed, surfaces not dusted; early morning taxi to airport was difficult to arrange. Staff don't speak English (just a little a couple of them) and they are not really friendly or helpful at the reception. Breakfast was poor, no fruit and would be good a wider variety of drinks. Taxi drivers couldn't find it easily. First room they showed us was disaster but they changed it for us. Rooms are small and bathrooms quite poor. Without fridge and tea pack. - Eco rooms don't fit with pictures (very basic room but confort is ok) - we received a phone call in the night from a prostitute for a "Massage" ; my girlfriend really enjoyed that ... - Mattresses are too hard (like most of hotels in China) - The rooms are noisy. Location - car can hardly reach the hotel, taxis do not know this location at all, very bad breakfasts. They don't give you attention they don't understand well English. Internet was too slow. Staff with poor eNGLISH. breakfast awful,smell in bathroom all the time. Taxi driver refused to drive to hotel so had to drag luggage down alley to hotel. First day the room wasn't cleaned (but I'd slept till midday) and I left laundry two days running which wasn't done. Breakfast was a disappointment even at only 20rmb. not all the room are clean. internet is out of service most of the nights. the staff is unfriendly. they grumble a lot right in front of us almost like it makes no difference if we left. despite our attempts to repeatedly politely ask them some information about the room, they blantantly answered every question with only one answer "NO". It seemed like they didnt want to understand what we asked them. the room is much smaller than in the picture. the hotel is kind of old and seems not that clean over all. Staff doesn't speak good English, they didn't clean the room properly any day, wifi doesn't work not even in the hall sometimes, and the staff is not very helpful. The staff refused to call me a taxi after I asked them three times. I do not speak Chinese therefore, it proved to be a difficult task to call a taxi myself. My room door locked us in our room on our first night and we had to call reception so someone could let us out. One of the maids took our transport card and would only give it back once we complained and threatened to make a scene. The bar did not sell enough food and it was not proper meals. It is not within walking distance from the subway station. The 10 mins walk from subway station as mentioned in the web page is not true. It is about 30 mins walking distance. Room was very small. We were put in a double with a sitting room which was made into the third bed. We clearly requested a triple room. The room is not the same as in the website, it is deceiving! We booked for their good room category but was given the Standard Room and the staff was mendacious by saying that it was the good room! Very unprofessional. Location: taxis arrive at 300 meters and you must walk with your luggage, good to some people, not good if you go with family, children or disabled person. The hotel is extremely cold in the corridors and the heating was broken in my room, they never fix the problem. Unfriendly staff, as in most places in China. Unconfortable.
