Arriving at the Plaza was a "Don't Judge a Book by its Cover" moment. My initial misgivings were completely unfounded. Brilliant staff, adequate breakfast, comfortable room, good bathroom, useful location for exploring Punta. Good stop over spot or centre for further exploring....easy walking to a couple of good restaurants and bars as well as the waterfront/wharf area. We found the rooms very comfortable and warm with a good bathroom, excellent wi fi and good breakfasts. The staff were friendly and helpful in spite of our poor Spanish and there was generally someone with good English to help with car hire, parking etc. Excellent value for money and a great location in the centre of town.
all reviews » Hotel a bit tired (and for those of you who are getting on a bit, there isn't a lift and reception is on the first floor. That said, however, we were helped down with our luggage and the staff were helpful in arranging taxis to the airport. Reasonable value for money. Good location on the main square in the center of town. Stately building, nicely maintained and renovated in a simple style. Comfortable beds. Good breakfast. Helpful staff e.g. provided hot water and cups for tea in the evening. The room was perfect (nice beds, good bathroom, not too much heat), really good breakfast, the best kuchen I've eaten at a hotel, the nice and helpful colombian lady who manages the hotel. Place to be recmended for a short stay in Punta Arenas. - big rooms - location is unbeatable, right at the main plaza - breakfast ok (toast, joghurt, ham, cheese, eggs, cake, fruits, flakes, coffee, tea...), nice breakfast room - flatscreen TV. Central location. The hotel starts in the second floor of this lovely old building, which, with no lift, makes it difficult getting bags up. Fit staff are essential! The outside of the lower level of the building leaves a lot to be desired. Dont be put off thinking you have arrived at the wrong place. Nothing. Nothing really. Noise is a problem since it echoed from the reception area to our first floor room at the top of the stairs. Also, street noise since our room faced one of the main downtown streets. No elevator, so travel light!. There is not lift. Noisy. Central location has a lot of road noise and church next door has loud bell every half hour. Reception located on first floor and no elevator. Bags had to be carried upstairs. Nothing..... Satisfied customers. broken shower head breakfast. Personal poco amigable. Rooms are rather small. No lift for heavy luggage as hotel is on first floor. - dirty carpet in our room - in general old and shabby interior, renovation would be appropriate - staff can hardly speak and understand English, one of the receptionists said he can arrange a transfer to the airport for 6.000 CLP, we ended up in a taxi and had to pay 13.000 CLP!. Horribly noisy; zero sleep because of street noise and hotel lobby noise; staff unhelpful;.
